THE consultant gynaecologist suspended by Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust for whistleblowing is back at work at Withybush Hospital.
Dr Chris Overton, who was reinstated after a meeting last week, returned to his post on Monday.
He was suspended five weeks ago after contacting GPs and patients over his concerns about cutbacks in gynaecology beds and threats to other services.
A statement issued by the trust on Friday said: "The trust's chief executive and director of human resources met with Mr Overton and his BMA Cymru Wales representative to discuss the way forward, with regard to his recent suspension and the completed investigation. Matters have now been resolved satisfactorily for both parties."
Dr Overton told the Western Telegraph: "We still need to highlight the bed shortage situation at Withybush and the loss of a dedicated gynaecology unit.
"The question needs to be asked why was not enough money made available by the National Assembly for a stand alone endoscopy unit, which would not have led to the closure of the gynaecology ward. I am sure that the Assembly could still provide that extra money."
