Raise a glass or two to this month's Western Telegraph competition, as we celebrate a 1,000-year-old tradition of pub signs with Royal Mail, who are featuring some of the most popular ones, in a set of special stamps.

The featured stamps, available in post office branches in August, include The Station (first class); The Black Swan (European stamp); The Cross Keys (42p); The Mayflower (47p) and The Barley Sheaf (68p).

Whether it's a long cool pint of beer, or a glass of sparkling wine you fancy in this hot weather, you're sure to appreciate the prizes on offer in this month's competition! The winner will receive a pewter tankard, hip flask and stamp set. The ten runners-up will each receive a presen-tation pack, featuring all the stamps in the set.

The most common pub names featured on the stamps in Wales are, The Cross Keys and The Station.

The Cross Keys, a common sign in Christian heraldry, can be found in Wrexham, Sychdyn, Dinas Powis, Swansea and Usk, while you can also enjoy a pint in The Station pub in Porthmadog, Pembroke Dock, Gorseinon and Bangor. You will also get a warm welcome at The Mayflower in Rhoose, Barry.

Gareth Davies, director of the Royal Mail Advisory Board for Wales, says: "We certainly have a great tradition here in Wales of celebrating major sporting events in pubs. "Like rural post offices, they play a great role in helping sustain village life and long may they continue to do so."

For a chance to win these prizes, all you have to do is answer the following question: What is the name of the European stamp?

The closing date is Wednesday, August 27th. Send your entries, including your name and address to: Pulse Competition Western Telegraph Old Hakin Road Merlins Bridge Haverfordwest SA61 1XF
