An elderly woman critically injured in an accident involving a pony and trap on her Crymych smallholding has died from her injuries at Morriston Hospital.
Mrs Rosemary Streeter, aged 78, of Villa Farm, Crymych, was airlifted to the hospital and died there on Tuesday, July 22nd.
It is understood she and her 76-year-old husband, John, who only recently made their home in north Pembrokeshire, were both thrown from the trap in a freak accident. It is suspected that the horse may have bolted.
The couple, who had long been equestrian driving enthusiasts, have no children and had moved to the locality from the Welshpool area.
Mr Streeter sustained minor injuries and was conveyed to Withybush Hospital, for a check-up. He was not detained.
Family friend Islwyn Jones, who lives near the couple, said: "What a tragedy." Saying that the emergency services had responded very swiftly, Mr Jones added: "They were all very professional and cannot be praised too highly. I'm told that getting to Morriston Hospital from Crymych took the air ambulance only eight minutes."
Mrs Streeter's death has been reported to the Swansea Coroner.
Her funeral will take place at 2pm tomorrow (Thursday), when she will be buried on their smallholding.
