Whitland (84 all out) lost to Carew (90 for 4) Umpires: Ray Kane and Bob Flute Scorer: Richard Merriman

Carew took a giant step towards the Division One championship with this win over Whitland as chasing Haverfordwest didn't play and Cresselly's match at Hook was eventually abandoned.

Yet no-one should carp about the weather since Carew lost the total to Haverfordwest last campaign because they played two games fewer so things have a habit of evening out over a period of time - as was proved on this occasion when they not only played but Whitland found themselves with a makeshift side and could only muster 84 runs in 44-4 overs.

David Lee was the only home batsman to find any form as he scored 39 runs (five fours) but his only real support came from talented teenager Edward John (15) and Meyrick Rowlands (12) as Rob Scourfield grabbed 4 for 17 and was supported by Tim Hicks (3 for 27), Darren Thomas (2 for 14 in 12 overs, seven maidens) and John Canton (1 for 13).

Carew started well via Ian Sefton (18), Simon Wood (20) and Nick Scourfield (32) and although skipper Thomas could only muster a single it was comfortable for Steve Cole and Phil Jones to take them level before Cole smashed a big six to give Carew a welcome extra batting point, as well as a huge lead of 65 points in the table!

Pembroke (166 for 6) tied with Llangwm (166 for 6) Umpires: David Loosemore and Terry Sandy Scorers: Keith Mitchell and Liz Beresford

There was a tense tie at Treleet as Pembroke came within a whisker of claiming their first success of the season - but after needing only nine runs from their last three overs they faltered and had to settle for a share of the spoils as Martin Fletcher was run out from the last ball, seeking the second run that would have sealed success.

Llangwm sec Brian James said afterwards that his team had got out of jail in the search for vital points in the basement battle, especially since they dropped no fewer than eight catches. In contrast, Pembroke fielded well to restrict Llangwm to 166 for 8 as McPherson Mead led the batting with an unbeaten 50 and George Thomas anchored the innings with 39 and there was a nice little cameo for the third week in succession by Chris Inward, who scored 16 not out in only six deliveries as Nigel Phillips (3 for 37) bowled really well and Martin Fletcher claimed 2 for 43.

Matthew Mitchell found form with 61 for Pembroke and support from Paul White (18), Mark Fraser (16) and Hugh Davies (21) put Pembroke in the driving seat before Llangwm skipper Darren Brick struck back by bowling Davies and Gwyn Griffiths in successive balls - and in the final analysis a draw was the fairest result.

Lawrenny (210 for 5) v Narberth match abandoned Umpires: Hilliard Davies and Tony Scourfield Scorers: Malcolm Thomas and Idwal Vincent

James Buckle scored 90 for Lawrenny in 116 balls (11 fours and a six) but it was all in vain because the bad weather swept in after Christian Phillips had contributed 43 as Ceri Jones and Ian Hughes shared four wickets.

Hook v Cresselly (143 for 3) Match abandoned

Simon Cole top scored for Cresselly as he joined Adam Chandler in a third-wicket stand of 108 at Hook before rain intervened.

Cole had a six and four fours in his 63 made from 71 balls, whilse Chandler was undefeated on 50 as Matthew Holder was the pick of the Hook bowlers with 2 for 29.
