Llangwm 20 Llanybydder 9

Fifteen points from centre Andrew Harries helped Llangwm complete the double over Llanybydder, the Wasps having won in Mid Wales by 33-14.

On this occasion points were harder to come by as Llanybydder defended well after making a good start, but with half backs Gerrard Williams and Jamie Campbell controlling matters and skipper Richard Scriven making sure that Lewis Woods and the rest of the home pack were firing on all cylinders, the Wasps had nosed their way ahead at the interval and were good value for victory in the final analysis.

Llanybydder No 8 Wyn Evans nudged his side ahead with two well-struck penalties but then Llangwm took a deserved lead with a good try by Ackie Harries, who also slotted the conversion for good measure.

Back came Llanybydder with a neat drop goal by veteran fly half Neville Wilson but from then on it was Llangwm who held the advantage despite the loss of second row Andrew Phillips with a nasty hand injury.

His departure necessitated a forward reshuffle but they were strong at the back as Dai Thomas, Rob Neill and JoJo Francis covered well and centres Martyn Thomas and Harries bottled up the middle. The Wasps regained the lead with a good try from a pick up at the base of a scrum by Lewis Woods which Harries goaled before he kicked a penalty soon afterwards.

Harries also had the final say when good work by Alister Platten, John James and Greg McCann earned a penalty on half way which Harries duly fired over to the delight of the partisan home crowd at Pill Parks!
