Wales U19 8 Faroe Islands U19 2

Wales U19 recently hosted their counterparts from the Faroe Islands for two matches, the second of which was played on Haverfordwests Bridge Meadow last Thursday.

Local interested involved the appearance of Bluebirds player Dylan Blain. Wales won each game emphatically, by 4 - 1 and 8 - 2.

Particularly pleasing was the fact that Dylan, who was part of a squad of 20, started both games and played for 80 minutes at the Vetch Field on Tuesday and for 85 minutes at the Meadow in the second game, for which he had the honour of captaining the national side.

Dylan, who is usually sweeper in the Blues League of Wales side, played the Vetch Field game at right wing back, before moving to the centre of defence initially at the Meadow and then out to full back.

The polish and poise of his performances attracted a great deal of praise, not least from manager Neville Southall, who commented after the second game that if he were a Premiership manager, Dylan is a player whom he would be looking to sign. An encouraging debut indeed.
