Local golfer Les James teed off this week in the regional finals of a national golf competition organised by Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Les from St Davids, Dyfed competed against 18 men in the regional final of the Marie Curie Queen Mothers Cup Golf Tournament held at Cottrell Park Golf Club Cardiff (Friday 20 July).
He scored 19 Stableford points in the competition but missed out on a place in the final to be held on the famous Brabazon Course at The Belfry the venue for the 2001 Ryder Cup just weeks after the prestigious event takes place. The winning score was 45 points.
Farm director Les, is a member of St Davids City Golf Club and has a handicap of 23. He has been playing golf for three years.
The annual Marie Curie Golf Tournament raises funds for Marie Curie Cancer Cares community nursing, cancer care centres and research work.
The current competition attracted thousands of entries from more than 500 clubs around the UK.
