J. J. Morris reports the first sale of breeding ewes and rams of the year saw an entry of 600 ewes presented together with 16 breeding rams.
Once again there were plenty of buyers looking for early season replacement ewes with trade reflective of quality and a top price of £83 for a pen of strong Suffolks from Hopkins, Clyngwyn Farm, Llanboidy, who also sold pens at £81 and £80, Owen, Ty Llwyd, Golden Grove also sold a pen at £80 with two others at £75, ewes from Morse, Zabulon, St. Clears sold at £78 and £76 with Pepper, Swan Inn, Little Newcastle selling two pens at £76 and three pens at £75. The overall average was over £60.
Breeding rams sold to a selective trade with a top price of 275 gns and 220 gns for Texel yearlings from Monahan, Biggins Hill Farm, Waterston Road, Milford Haven.
