County cricket division one: Narberth (170 for 6) drew with Cresselly (153 for 9)
Narberth came within a wicket of gaining a good win over a Cresselly side which still had a sniff of the silverware at the start but were unable to capture their good recent form. The visitors had to rely on last pair Richard Harris (21 not out) and Phil James (12 not out) to save their bacon.
Narberth's total was boosted by a splendid innings of 96 by opener Marc Hughes. He was denied a deserved century when he was bowled by Stefan Jenkins.
He shared in stands of 50 and 61 respectively with Mike Scale (15) and Ben Hughes (11) before Ceri Jones biffed a six and two fours in a typically breezy 25 not out. Stefan Jenkins finished the pick of the Cresselly bowlers with 4 for 45.
Cresselly started well enough through Julian Arthur (34), Andrew Harris (20) and Simon Cole (27)
But then Richard Howell continued his good form with a 3 for 29 spell, including a good low return catch to shift Lyn Richards, and canny spinner Greg Morris went one better with a 4 for 34 spell.
Richard Harris was the only batsman to look settled and it was left to fellow veteran Phil James to join him at the crease to prevent Narberth gaining victory.
