County Cricket Division Two: Hook (169 for 3) beat Llanrhian (168 all out)

Hook produced another good all-round display to gain the division two silverware as they beat Llanrhian by seven wickets and then learned that Pembroke had lost at home to Saundersfoot.

It was no more than Matthew Holder's team deserved because they have looked the most consistent side all season in this topsy-turvy section.

They have lost just once in 17 outings and showed good batting form as they chased down Llanrhian's reasonable target of 169 for victory and reached it with overs and wickets to spare.

Llanrhian's score owed much to Jonathan Arundel (41), Ben Jones (27) and skipper Andrew Jenkins (25), plus a late 16 from Tony Kitchell against accurate bowling from Andrew Thomas (3 for 34) and Ross Martin, who again caught the eye with 5 for 39 in 12 pacy overs.

There was also a wicket apiece from Holder and Wayne Griffiths.

Brennan Lay did a good job of anchoring the Hook reply with 51 and Matthew Rowlands contributed 39 to help Hook on their way.

Then Ross Martin carried on his all-round form with 47 not out and Keith James contributed a breezy 27 not out as this duo put on an unbroken stand of 68 which saw Hook to victory.

They were then presented with the Dan Jones Cup by county club chairman Dai Morris.
