FAIRGROUND rides, food stalls and hordes of giant soft toys lined Hamilton Terrace for Milford Haven's Big Weekend.

The event, organised by Milford Haven Round Table, took place on Friday and Saturday and despite mixed weather raised about £4,000 for charities.

Friday's rain put some people off, but glorious sunshine drew the crowds on Saturday.

Hamilton Terrace became a sea of people meandering from one attraction to the next.

A sound stage was set up outside the town hall, where performances by local singers and bands kept audiences entertained until the fireworks spectacular at 10pm, which attracted an estimated 15,000 spectators.

Highlight of the entertainment was the Elvis impersonation competition, with eight entrants taking a shot at being king for the night. The winner was 'Elvis Preseli' from Solva - aka Will Candler.

Raffle prizes included a family holiday in Europe donated by Red Building Services, a household heater from Consort, family tickets to Folly Farm, Oakwood and Heatherton and a free children's party from Round Table magician Phil Jones, who also provided entertainment for children on Saturday.

This was the third Big Weekend organised by Milford Haven Round Table and co-ordinated by Matthew Reynolds.
