MORE than 300 vehicles of every shape and size turned out for the eighth annual Western Telegraph Milford to Tenby vehicle run.

Programmes for the event were available for the first time. Sales of the Western Telegraph-produced booklets raised £500 for the British Heart Foundation.

Organisers Jeff and Sian Edwards, of Milford Haven, said: "It was, without doubt, the biggest and most successful run yet."

Cars, motorcycles and even a 1948 Leyland bus set off from Milford Haven Marina on Sunday morning.

Their route, kindly signposted by Texaco, took them to Haverfordwest, St Davids, aFishguard, Boncath and Narberth to finish at North Beach, Tenby, from around 1.15pm.

Pembrokeshire County Council chairman Councillor Clive Collins and Milford Haven Mayor town councillor Rhys Sinnett welcomed participants and wished them a safe journey.

Western Telegraph County Show colouring competition winner Laura Maggs, of Haverfordwest, started the vehicle run by lowering the Pembrokeshire flag when the whistle was blown by Katie Goodall, of Ystradgynlais.

Vintage, classic and kit vehicles joined more modern models in a parade, with representatives from every decade since the 1920s.

Much-needed refreshments were supplied at Fishguard by the Fishguard and Goodwick Lions Club.

The parking arrangements in Tenby, in conjunction with the county council, meant many participants could stop for Sunday lunch en route and still be sure of a parking space at the end.
