A £350,000 fish pass on Haverfordwest Town Weir was officially opened on Monday.
Welsh Assembly environment minister Carwyn Jones (pictured centre) and Dr Helen Phillips, Director of Environment Agency Wales (left) unveiled an information board to mark the occasion. Also pictured is Pembrokeshire County Council chairman, Councillor Clive Collins.
The new pass incorporates the most modern technology and will allow fish to ascend easily over a wide range of river flows.
Ben Wilson, sustainable fisheries programme manager for the Environment Agency in south-west Wales, said: "This is part of a major investment in the sustainable development of fisheries in Wales.
"In addition to benefiting the fishery, the new fish pass represents a significant improvement for local biodiversity."
The Haverfordwest town weir project is just one of a number of major fish passes Environment Agency Wales is building under the three year Fishing Wales project.
