MRS I. G. GWILLIAM HAVERFORDWEST (formerly of Neyland) The death occurred on September 5th at Withybush hospital, of Mrs Ivy Gladys Gwilliam, of 4 Hanover Court, Milford Road, Haverfordwest, formerly of Neyland. She was 91. Mrs Gwilliam had been a patient at Withybush hospital for four weeks. Ivy was born in Great Yarmouth but moved to Neyland at an early age when her father was re-deployed in the fishing industry. She worked as a shop assistant in Osborne's corner shop in Neyland for 20 years and later in Hupp's minimarket in Portfield, Haverfordwest. Her last job was as a shop assistant in Osborne and Perkins Bakers in Bridge Street, Haverfordwest from which she retired in 1980. Her interests revolved around her family - her passion was home-cooking and she was well known for her sponges, mince pies and Welsh cakes. Until recently she enjoyed playing bingo and attended the Senior Citizens Club in Haverfordwest Communi-ty Centre. She also enjoyed watching snooker on television. She attended Albany church in Haverfordwest whenever possible. Predeceased by her husband Benny Gwilliam in 1968, family left to mourn are: Joan Harvey (daughter); Terry and Petra Gwilliam (son and daughter-in-law); Nigel and Cherie Harvey, Paul and Lianne Gwilliam (grandsons and wives); Linda Whelton (step granddaughter); Jayne and Terry Cassidy (step granddaughter and husband); Brenda Williams (niece); Jason, Phillip, Ian and Matthew Harvey (great-grandsons); Charlotte, Lucy, Tommy and Danny Gwilliam (great-grandchildren); Alan and Liam Whelton (great grandsons); Roxanne Cassidy (great-granddaughter); Vernon and Pauline Gwilliam, Gwyneth and Phyliss Baillieux (nephew and nieces). The funeral took place on Monday, September 12th at Albany church, Haverfordwest, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn and was officiated by Rev Linda Woollacott. Bearers were Nigel Harvey, Paul Gwilliam, Jason and Phillip Harvey. Principal mourners were: Joan Harvey; Terry and Petra Gwilliam; Nigel, Cherie and sons; Paul, Lianne and family; Linda and the boys; Jayne, Cass and family; Brenda Williams; Olga Francis; Rowena Dillon; Patti and John Baldock; all her neighbours at Hanover Court, and family and friends too numerous to mention. There were family flowers only but donations can be made in lieu to ward ten, Withybush Hospital, c/o the scheme manager, 18 Hanover Court, Milford Road, Haverfordwest, SA61 1PP. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Roy Folland and Son, Haverfordwest.

MR D. H. THOMAS HAVERFORDWEST (Formerly of Camrose) Mr Derick Henry Thomas, of Heritage Gate, Haverfordwest (formerly of Camrose), died at his home on August 18th, aged 73. Mr Thomas was a native of Milford Haven and worked as a carpenter. For the last 18 years of his working life Derick was employed by L. Greggain and Son, Building Contractors, Neyland, before retiring at the age of 70. His main interests were his home and family. Family left to mourn are: Mary (wife); Martin and Sarah (son and daughter-in-law); Jasmine (granddaughter). The funeral took place on Wednesday, August 24th at Parc Gwyn Crematorium and was conducted by Canon G. Gwyther. The bearers on Tuesday evening were: Martin (son), Carl Rogers (nephew), Roy, Leslie, Alistair and Norman Rogers (brothers-in-law); and on Wednesday: Shaun Sprague and Stephen (friends), Gareth Williams, Stephen Rogers, Jason Rogers and Darren Rogers (nephews). Principal mourners were: Mary (wife); Martin and Sarah (son and daughter-in-law); Jasmine (granddaughter); Mrs B. Rogers (step sister); Mrs P. Rogers (sister-in-law); Mr and Mrs R. Rogers (brother and sister-in-law); Mr Glyn Rogers (brother-in-law); Mr and Mrs G. Williams (sister-in-law and brother-in-law); Mr and Mrs R. Rogers, Mr and Mrs A. Rogers, Mr and Mrs N. Rogers (brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law); Mr L. Rogers and Pam (brother-in-law and partner); together with other family members too numerous to mention. There were family flowers only with donations in lieu to the cardiac care unit at Withybush Hospital, c/o Mr Norman Rogers, 56 Bunkers Hill, Steynton, Milford Haven, SA73 1AQ. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Roy Folland and Son, Haverfordwest.

MR R. C. ATKINS PEMBROKE The death occurred on Monday, August 29th at Cartref Residential Home, of Mr Ronald Cecil Atkins, of 4 Vicarage Fields, Pembroke, aged 82. Mr Atkins was a native of Willesden, London, and his early working life varied from cobbler to mobile greengrocer until joining British Gas as an HGV driver that lasted 25 years, before retiring to Pembroke in 1986. As a young man he served in the Royal West Kent's Regiment in Cairo as well as Italy. Outside the love of his family, his main interest was his passion for horses. Ron and Dora arrived in Pembrokeshire in 1974 opening a small corner shop selling everything from a loaf of bread to clothing. When he retired from his job with the British Gas Board in 1986, they moved to Cosheston, spending the next 17 years enjoying a peaceful life tending their home and garden before moving to their home in Pembroke three years ago. Family left to mourn are: Dora (wife of 56 years); Barbara and Pauline (daughters); Graham and Tom (sons-in-law); Nadine and Graham (grandchildren). The funeral took place on Friday, September 9th at St Michael's church, Cosheston, followed by interment at Llanion cemetery and was conducted by Rev R. A. Gordon. Bearers were Graham Billington (grandson), Sean Burns, Robert Woods and Michael Bersant. Principal mourners were: Dora (wife); Barbara and Graham, Pauline and Tom (daughters and sons-in-law); Nadine and Graham (grandchildren); Kathleen Atkins (sister-in-law); Maureen and Terry Goldsmith (niece and husband); Russell and Lee Goldsmith (great nephews); and friends and neighbours too numerous to mention. The funeral arrangements were carried out by John Roberts and Son, Bush Street, Pembroke Dock.

MR G. F. HUGHES PONTYATES The funeral took place on Thursday, September 1st, at Parc Gwyn crematorium of Mr Gordon Francis Hughes. Mr Hughes, aged 83, died at home after a long illness bravely borne. Gordon was born in Goodwick. He spent a number of years in the Navy, after which he went into the building trade, ending his working life as a clerk of works. He was a loyal member of the Royal British Legion, was chairman in Goodwick for many years, and then chairman of the Pontyates branch. He was also vice-chairman of the County Royal British Legion. He had many interests including the church, gardening, whist drives and visiting agricultural shows. Family left to mourn are: Barbara Hughes (wife); Gwen Davies (sister); Jane and Pete Smith, Judith and Hugh Richards (nieces and husbands); Graham Bennett and daughter Emma (stepson and granddaughter); together with other family members and friends too numerous to mention. Unable to attend were: great-nephews Laurie, Barnaby, Hal, Jack, Daniel, Max and Henry. Gordon was the brother of the late Audrey Vaughan, of Newport. The bearers were Pete Smith, Hugh Richards (nephews), Dave Cole (friend), and John Williams (Legionnaire). County Standard bearer was Mr John Mycroft. The service was conducted by Rev Canon Betty McNiven of St Mary's church, Pontyates. There were family flowers only with donations to be divided between Dr Dundrow and Nurses at Kidwelly Surgery and St Mary's church, Pontyates, which may be sent to Mr D. Thomas, Belmont, Broadhaven, Haverfordwest, SA62 3LD. The funeral arrangements were carried out by F. G. Rees and Son, Portfield Gate, Haverford-west.

MRS D. M. GRIFFITHS HAKIN Mrs Doris Maud Griffiths, of 37 Croft Avenue, Hakin, Milford Haven, died at her home on August 22nd, aged 70. Mrs Griffiths was a native of Rosemarket and had worked on a turkey farm. She also picked potatoes, packed eggs and was a housewife and mother. Her main interests were walking her dog, Charlie, gardening and cooking. Predeceased by her husband, Norman William Griffiths, Doris leaves to mourn: Paul and David (sons), Karen (daughter-in-law), Rokeena (son's fiancee); Diane, Margaret and Nelly (sisters-in-law); Janette and Terry, Angela and Phillip, Amanda and Jerome, Sharon, Rachael and Denise. The funeral took place on Wednesday, August 31st at Hamilton Court Funeral Home, Dartmouth Street, Milford Haven followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn and was officiated by Rev Alan Chadwick. Principal mourners were: Paul and Karen (son and daughter-in-law); David and Rokeena (son and fiance). The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons, Milford Haven.

MR H. CADOGAN PEMBROKE DOCK (formerly of Nash) The funeral took place on September 1st at Nash Church, of Mr Hugh Cadogan, of 1 Albany Street, Pembroke Dock, who died on August 25th at the age of 75. Rev Gordan conducted the service. The bearers were Barrie Cadogan, Robert Cadogan, Anthony Cadogan and Rodney Cadogan. Mr Cadogan was a retired mechanic and had a great love for hunting and many other sports. He leaves to mourn his wife Mrs Florence Cadogan; Anthony Cadogan and Stephanie Roberts (son and partner); Barrie and Jayne Cadogan (son and daughter-in-law); Rodney Cadogan and Karen Donoghue (son and partner); Jacqueline Cadogan and Sam Goodwin (granddaughter and partner); Jennifer Cadogan and Kevin Bratcher (granddaughter and partner); Robert Cadogan (grandson); Rhys Cadogan (grandson); Ffion Cadogan (granddaughter); Mary Honar (sister-in-law); Jill, Rosaline, Michael, Jimmy and Adrian (nieces and nephews), and many more family members. There were family flowers only, but donations to Nash Church can be made via Mr Roberts and Son, funeral directors, 51 Bush Street, Pembroke Dock, who carried out the funeral arrangements.
