County Rugby - Division Three West Tenby United 8 Pembroke Dock Harlequins 22

Pembroke Dock Harlequins gained a victory at Heywood Lane as they fought back from an early eight-point deficit to beat Tenby United as they outscored the opposition by three tries to one.

But the game was marred as a spectacle because of the regular outbreaks of petulance from both sides which prevented the game really developing, with Tenby's Harry Bolton and the Quins' Phil Hughes sin-binned in the first half, and with Hughes sent off after the break and Tenby skipper Scott Payne yellow-carded.

Yet the game started brightly enough as the Quins made a promising little half break and the Seasiders responded immediately as Will Crockford put Aled Griffiths into a little space and the fly half set winger James Davies on a 40 metre blind-side run into the corner.

Further Tenby pressure saw Aled Griffiths land a simple penalty but after Bolton and Hughes had been yellow-carded the Quins claimed 14 points in less than two minutes as the Seasiders were made to pay for basic errors.

Firstly, they lost possession from a penalty and the Quins surged into the left corner and showed good control as Gavin Nicholas took a clean catch and skipper Mike Scourfield was powered over the line, with assistance from Carl Williams.

Tom Lewis converted and then Tenby put the kick-off straight into touch so that the Quins were awarded a scrum on half way from which Darren Gibby was put away on the blind-side by Ollie Brace.

The centre scythed through to the line with the aid of a neat dummy and his raw power took him to the posts without a hand laid upon him, Lewis adding the extra points.

Further Quins pressure saw Brace, Mike Scourfield and Kevin Bratcher held up short and half time saw the Quins still 14-8 to the good.

Hughes received his red card in the very first minute of the second period following a touch-line melee.

The Seasiders lost their momentum when Payne was given a ten-minute rest and they gifted the Quins a third try when Will Crockford tried to force a pass in attempt at breaking out but only lodged the ball in the grateful arms of Tom Lewis, who only had to fall over the line to score.

Lewis missed the conversion but landed a penalty from two attempts to complete the scoring.
