FLOODING hit the coastal village of Solva again yesterday (Tuesday) with early reports of properties in New Street being waterlogged.

The fire service was called to the area at 8.30am and throughout the day anxious residents and county council workmen were on floodwatch with a supply of sandbags at the ready.

The latest flooding incident came hard on the heels of a public meeting on Friday, at which residents were told they must adopt a 'self-defence' approach to protecting their properties.

This was the message from the Environment Agency when they met county council representatives in the Memorial Hall.

Representatives from the Environment Agency discussed the extent of the damage in the village and the modern plugging devices available to stop water getting into homes and businesses.

They told residents they knew flooding was a risk and it was up to them to look at ways of minimising its impact.

Other parts of the county have also been affected by the heavy rains, including notorious flood spots like Whitland where fields were under water and properties were threatened.

There was also flooding at Dinas Cross and Letterston, and roads were closed at various points across the county.
