Two junior fencing champs from Pembroke Dock are to jet off to India on January 21st to compete in the junior Commonwealth Fencing Federal Championships 2006.

Mark Evans and Jason Scourfield both aged 15, are two of 14 Welsh juniors going to Chennai, Madras, to represent Wales.

They will both be fighting in the fencing competitions using foils but they will also both be required to use the epee and sabre.

The boys are fast becoming international champs having also made the Great Britain Junior Fencing Team for next year.

Mark Evans said: "We're not nervous at all, just very excited. We're confident as we have got a really good team spirit. We're awesome as individuals and as a team."

Marks mum Anna Lisa Evans said: "We are really proud of them. their fathers are working overtime to fund all their hundreds of competitions."

Jason's mum Mandy Scourfield said: "We would really like to thank their coach Nigel Gregory. If it wasn't for him with all his support and knowledge they would not be where they are today. We are very proud of them."
