MR I. H. HANNAN SOLVA The death occurred suddenly on November 15th, of Ian Hugh Hannan, Portland Square, Solva. He was 43. Ian was born in Solva and attended the village school and Ysgol Dewi Sant, St Davids - completing his education at Swansea College of Art. His professional life was adventurous and varied. He travelled extensively and forged lasting friendships wherever he went. The affection in which he was held was demonstrated by the very large gathering of family and friends at a service of thanksgiving for his life at St Aidan's church on November 23rd. The service at the church and the burial at Middle Mill Cemetery were conducted by Rev Garry Bennett and Rev Aled Jenkins. Predeceased by his brothers Robert, Richard and Andrew, Ian leaves to mourn his parents Doreen and Charlie Chase; Mandy and Ian Worthington (sister and brother-in-law); Harriet, Charlie and Bertie (niece and nephews); John Phillips (uncle) Bill and Sheila Hannan, Scotland (uncle and aunt); and many close and faithful friends. MR T. R. CHARLES PEMBROKE DOCK Terence Ralph Charles, of Oak Road, Pennar, Pembroke Dock, died on November 27th at Withybush Hospital. He was 64. Mr Charles was a native of Neyland and a baker by trade. His interests were gardening and driving and he was a keen supporter of rugby and Wales. Family left to mourn are: Mary (wife); Tracy and John McKeen (daughter and son-in-law); Catrina Charles (daughter); Rachel and Mark Skett (daughter and son-in-law); Christopher and Deborah Phillips (grandson and granddaughter); Sophie Skett (granddaughter); Ben McKeen (grandson); Derek and Gerald Charles (brothers); Susan Beare and Elaine Campbell (sisters); Marlene Charles, Lillian Charles (sisters-in-law). The funeral service took place on December 2nd at Zion church, Meyrick Road, Pembroke Dock followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn. Rev Hugh Michael officiated. Bearers were Brian Beare, Bryn Campbell, Adrian Jenner, Gwyndaf Walters, David Jenner and Anthony Jenner. MR F. POVEY CARDIFF The funeral took place recently of Mr Frank Povey, of Canton, Cardiff. Aged 95, Mr Povey died on Thursday, December 1st at Llandough Hospital. Frank was the father and father-in-law of David and Margaret Povey, of Rhyd y Brown, Clarbeston Road. He was also a grandfather and great-grandfather. He was recently predeceased by his wife Dorothy (Dollie) Povey.

MRS B. G. JAMES BROAD HAVEN The death occurred on November 24th at Withybush Hospital, of Barbara Gwendoline James, of Walton, 2 Millmoor, Broad Haven, Haverfordwest, aged 82. Mrs James was a devoted mother who spent much of her life raising her children. Her main interests were reading, cooking, and sport, being a keen football and rugby supporter. She was secretary of Newquay Football Club for many years. Barbara was involved in local schools, running the PTA for many years at Frampton Cottrrell primary school, in Bristol. Family left to mourn are: Francis James (husband); Richard and Gladys James, Stephen and Tracy James (sons and daughters-in-law); Caroline James and Mark (daughter and partner); Laura and Charlotte James and Alex Edwards (grandchildren). The funeral took place on December 1st at Talbenny church, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, and was conducted by Andrew Johnson. Principal mourners were: Francis James (husband); Richard and Gladys James, Stephen and Tracy James (sons and daughters-in-law); Caroline James and Mark (daughter and partner); Laura and Charlotte James and Alex Edwards (grandchildren). MR G. M. MATHIAS LETTERSTON Gwilym Morris Mathias, of Gwalia, 14 St Davids Road, Letterston, died at Parc-y-Llyn Nursing Home, Ambleston, on November 19th. Mr Mathias lived nearly all his life at Mabws Uchaf, firstly with his family and later with his wife Clara and children Gerwyn and Eifion. In 2000, he moved to Gwalia, Letterston, until his ill health two years ago. Gwilym was a lifelong member and deacon of Blaenllyn Baptist chapel, Mathry. Family left to mourn are: Clara (wife); Gerwyn and Eifion (sons); Tina (daughter-in-law); distant relatives and friends. A large gathering attended the funeral at Blaenllyn Baptist chapel on Thursday, November 24th, followed by interment at the chapel cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev G. Aled Jenkins, Rev Gwyn Rogers and Rev Geoffrey Eynon. The organist was Stella Evans. The bearers were John Evans, Idris Thomas, Tudor Francis and Huw Williams. MISS M. LEWIS CLARBESTON ROAD The death occurred on November 23rd at Lynnefield Care Home, Merlins Bridge, Haverfordwest, of Miss Margaret (Peggy) Lewis, of Claremont, Clarbeston Road, aged 86. Miss Lewis was a native of Clarbeston Road and worked at Brooklyn Stores, Clarbeston Road with Mr and Mrs Tribe for many years. Her main interests were her family and friends and she was a devoted long-time member of Bethany Free church, Clarbeston Road. Peggy leaves to mourn: Michael Thomas, Susan Griffiths, Janet Horne, Richard Thomas, Yvette Bevan and Anthony Thomas (nieces and nephews) and their families; G. Davies and family, A. Phillips and family, J. Rowlands and family, and B. James (cousins); and close friends. The funeral took place on Wednesday, November 30th at Bethany Free church, Clarbeston Road, followed by interment at the church cemetery. Rev Gareth Edwards officiated. MR G. DAVIES WHITLAND The death occurred at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen on Sunday, November 27th of George Davies (Cockles), aged 83. A native of Ferryside, George moved to Whitland after serving with the army in Germany, France and Northern Ireland during the Second World War. He met his late wife Nina, who died in April this year, when he moved to Whitland, where he worked as a guard and a shunter for British Rail. Until his sudden illness, George was an active member of the local community and enjoyed fishing, gardening and bingo. The funeral took place on Friday, December 2nd at Parc Gwyn Crematorium and was conducted by Rev Kingsley Taylor. Bearers were members of the local branch of the Royal British Legion, to which George belonged. Principal mourners were: Ruth, Cheryl, Nigel, Barbara and Andrea (children); Roger, Andrew and Angela (sons-in-law and daughter-in-law); Mark, Karen, Fiona, Robert, Ben, Kelly, Adam, Sophie, Simon, William, Abigail and Sam (grandchildren); Dayle, Oscar, Antonia, Ebonie, Liam, Laura and Kairon (great-grandchildren). MRS C. E. EDWARDS STEYNTON The death occurred on December 2nd on Rostley Residential Home, Steynton, of Christine Emile Edwards, aged 85. Mrs Edwards was a native of Milford Haven and before she retired in 1977, Chrisse, as she was always known, owned Whittow's grocery shop in Pill, where she worked together with her sister, Evelyn. Her hobbies were reading and playing the piano. She attended North Road Baptist chapel, where she was an organist for 35 years. Predeceased by her husband, Glynne Edwards and her sister Evelyn, family left to mourn are: Joan and Frank Yeomans (daughter and son-in-law); Niall and Vanessa Yeomans, Jaime and Stephanie Yeomans (grandsons and wives). The funeral took place on Friday, November 9th at Hamilton Court Funeral Home, Dartmouth Street, Milford Haven followed by interment at Neyland Cemetery and was officiated by Rev R. Price. Bearers were Niall Yeomans, Jaime Yeomans, Andrew Belton and Derek Harding. Donations in lieu for Cancer Research, to Mrs M. Jones, 113 Waterloo Road, Hakin, Milford Haven. MRS S. M. GREIG NARBERTH The death occurred on November 18th of Sybil Mary Greig of Rhos-y-Grug, 5 Bloomfield Gardens, Narberth, at the age of 81, at Withybush Hospital. Mrs Greig was born in Acton, West London and lived in Northolt, Middlesex before moving to Pembrokeshire in 1985. During the war, she worked at Hoover Ltd, Perivale where she met and married Arthur, her husband of 61 years. She had been a member of Northolt, Clynderwen and Narberth WIs, a supporter and organiser for League of Friends of Sunnybank Residential Home, Narberth and a very keen and knowledgeable gardener. She was a regular worshipper at St Andrew's Church, Narberth. The funeral took place on November 22nd at St Andrew's Church, Narberth followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn. Rev Peter Lewis officiated. The bearers were Daniel Sheen, Stephen Sheen, James Greig, Timothy Simmons, Benjamin Simmons and Christopher Cockerell. Family left to mourn and principal mourners were Arthur Greig (husband); Janet Sheen and Ralph Sheen (daughter and son-in-law); Alison Greig (daughter); Daniel Sheen, Stephen Sheen and James Greig (grandsons); Dora (sister); Audrey Mcloud (sister-in-law); Timothy Simmons (nephew) and Mary Cockerell (niece). MR T. G. LEWIS CARDIFF The death occurred at High Towers, Penarth on November 22nd, of Thomas Glyn Lewis, formerly of Horns Lane, Haverfordwest. The funeral took place at Thornhill Crematorium on November 30th. Rev Lance E. D. Clark officiated. He leaves to mourn: Colette, Rebecca, and Rowena (daughters), their husbands and five grandchildren. Also Gordon and Vera, Ken and Win (brothers and sisters-in-law); Muriel and Billy (sister and brother-in-law). Funeral arrangements were carried out by Green Willow Funerals, 33 St Isan Road, Heath, Cardiff.

MR R. W. ROBERTS NARBERTH THE funeral of Robert Wynne Roberts of Eastfield, 16 Station Road, Narberth, was held on December 7th. Bob went into the RAF from school and served for 18 years in various countries throughout the world. He came home to Narberth and worked as a security guard until being taken ill in 1993. He coped well with his illness until recent years when he had to go into Brooklands Nursing Home, near Tenby, where he died on November 30th, aged 70. Bob played rugby and football for Narberth and also enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Tenby branch of RAFA and Narberth British Legion. Family left to mourn are: Shirley (wife), Lyndon, Gail, Charlotte and Aimee (step son and family), Dick and Siriol, (brother and sister-in-law) David and Kim (nephew and partner), Michael and Pauline (nephew and wife) and Audrey (cousin). Unable to attend were his children Joanne, Alun and Susan. The services were conducted by Rev Russell Gordon and Rev Chris Rees. There were family flowers but donations in lieu for Brooklands Nursing Home, Saundersfoot, to funeral director Hywel Evans, 3 Wesley Villas, Station Road, Narberth.

MR P. WATKINS KILGETTY The death occurred on November 27th of Peter Watkins of St Mary's Place, Kilgetty. He died, aged 63, at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest. He was a painter and decorator and a member of the RAOB Lodge, Kilgetty, and Tenby golf club. His interests included a range of sporting activities. His main interest was his family. He leaves to mourn his wife Ivy Watkins; Jenette and Hugh Scale (daughter and son-in-law); Stephen Watkins (son); Jillian and Steve Sutton (daughter and son-in-law); Ethel Watkins (mother); Jemma, Duane, Alexandra, Natasha, Stephanie, Aaron, Thomas, Christopher, Grant, Scott, Lois, Tudor (grandchildren); Summer (great granddaughter) and Misty (the dog). The funeral took place on December 1st at St Mary's Church, Begelly, with interment at St Mary's Churchyard. Rev M. Butler and Rev N. Cale officiated. Bearers at the house were: Raymond Watkins, Roger Watkins, Philip Watkins, Simon Watkins (brothers), Stephen Watkins (son), Duane Rossiter (grandson), Haydn Allen (brother-in-law). At the church, the bearers were Donald Lloyd, Peter Thorpe, Anthony Allen, Stephen Harries, Dorian Thomas, David Williams (members of Kilgetty RAOB Lodge). There was a large number of floral tributes from family and friends at the house and the churchyard. Other principal mourners were Raymond and Mo, Roger and Doreen, Philip and Wendy, Simon and Christine (brothers and sisters-in-law); Elizabeth (sister); Haydn and Joan (brother-in-law and partner); Mavis Allen (sister-in-law); Jacqueline Harries (cousin); and numerous nephews and nieces and their families. Also present were friends from the RAOB Lodges and Tenby Golf Club and many friends travelled from Cardiff and the Valleys area. The huge turnout was indicative of Peter's popularity and the high regard in which he was held by the community. MR T. J. A. PETTIT MILFORD HAVEN The death occurred on November 30th at Torsetin, Tiers Cross, of Terence John Anthony Pettit, formerly of Preselly Court, Milford Haven, aged 78. Mr Pettit was a native of Milford Haven and had worked as a miner and fish-merchant. Predeceased by his wife Irene, family left to mourn are: Margaret and Peter Hackett (daughter and son-in-law); David, Pamela, Cathy, Suzzane and Cheryl (grandchildren); Jade, Ross, Chloe, Daniel, Haydn, Sophie, Cameron, Ryan and Kathleen (great grandchildren). The funeral took place on Wednesday, December 7th at St Katharines, Milford Haven followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn. Bearers were David Thomas (grandson), Ross Williams (great grandson) and Jason Hackett (step grandson). MR W. JOHNSON MERLINS BRIDGE The death occurred of Walter Johnson, of Pembroke Road, Merlins Bridge, on Wednesday, December 7th. Walter was 88 and moved to Pembrokeshire from Portsmouth when he retired from HM Dockyard in 1978, where he was an engineer, to be near his grandchildren. Walter was born in Portsmouth in 1917 and served in the army during the war. During this time he met and married his wife, Joan. He enjoyed his long retirement in Pembrokeshire. He leaves to mourn his wife Joan, Ann, Patricia and Margaret (daughters) George, Joe and Roger (sons-in-law) Melina, Julia, Michael, Robert and Louise (grandchildren) and Daniel, Harry, Ella and Zack (great grandchildren).

MRS M. ROBERTS FISHGUARD The funeral of Mary Roberts took place on November 4th at the church of the Holy Name, Fishguard. Mary died on October 30th, aged 63, surrounded by her family. Mary was born in Kidderminster in 1942, but spent all her life in Fishguard. Her husband Wyn died in 1989. Mary always put everyone else first, especially her family. She will be missed by all her friends and colleagues from St Teresa's Rest Home, but most of all, her family have lost an important person, a hole has been left in every one of their lives which will never be filled. The large gathering at her funeral showed how popular Mary was. Family left to mourn are Katrina and Sean, Bev and Neil (daughters and sons-in-law); Megan, Brooke and Macs (grandchildren); Mairead, Chris, David, Kevin, Sean and Nicola (brothers and sisters). MRS M. ROSSER WHITLAND A large gathering of family and friends attended the funeral of Mary Rosser, of Penbryn, Spring Gardens, Whitland on October 25th. Mary was born in 1927 and spent her childhood in Craigcefn Parc, Swansea where she attended Ystalyfera Grammar school and Aberystwyth University, studying music and biology. Her occupation brought her to Whitland where she worked in the laboratory of the milk factory. She met Tom through the young farmers club and had a long and happy marriage, running the family farm at West Regwm. The couple had three children, Wyn, Sian and Eryl. Mary was a loving wife, mother and business partner to Tom, who died in 1993. Mary was a popular, caring member of the community. She was actively involved with her family, particularly her grandchildren and was a faithful member of Tabernacle chapel, Whitland, where the service was conducted on October 25th by Rev Jill Haley S. Harris and Rev Allan Pickard, of Newport. Principal mourners were: Wyn and Annette Rosser (son and daughter-in-law); Robert and Sian Martin (daughter and son-in-law); Eryl Rosser (daughter); Rhys and Elin Martin, Hawys and Sion Freeman (grandchildren); D.
