Choosing an original band name is a difficult decision, but The Big Apple Credits? They sound like The Red Hot Chilli Peppers having a game of twister with System Of A Down to a soundtrack of classic Free, but I soon found myself tapping my toes and nodding my head in time honoured tradition.

The singer has a voice that will guarantee his place on the bedroom walls of young women, the bassist is funkier than anyone from this country has any right to be, the guitarist delivers a thick no-nonsense sound and the drummer? Well he's having a ball (you can almost see him twirling his sticks). The songs are diverse and the different styles contained within come as something of a surprise.

My only criticism (apart from the name) would be that the tracks are a little on the short side. To sum up, not bad at all and, being the most popular band in the area at the moment, rumour has it they can also play acoustic.

Catch The Big Apple Credits unplugged, along with three other bands, at the Queens Hall Acoustic Room on Wednesday, December 28th. Doors open at 8pm and tickets cost £6 from the box office on 01834 861212.

Booking is advisable. Rippsnorter
