The 2006 season got off to a cold but good start for Pembrokeshire Harriers with an impressive turn out of 21 runners taking part in the annual Trefach Pursuits race.

This team event consists of five runners starting at 30sec intervals competing over a testing seven mile course made up of mainly road with a short stretch of cross country at the end; conditions were very cold but dry with bright sunshine.

In the closing months of 2005 members competed in a number of races of which the Cardiff half and full marathon figured prominently, with a large contingent, many having completed the London marathon in April travelling to the capital.

The weather was kind helping some to achieve personal bests and good times on a fast flat course, with the added treat of being able to cross the finishing line in the Millennium Stadium after completing a lap of the hallowed turf.

The final race of the interclub competition was as always the Ras-Y-Mast, a gruelling seven mile fell race.

Unfortunately the Pembs Ladies were unable to retain the shield which they won last year, having to relinquish it to the runners up the TROTS after a hard fought contest.

The club is now looking forward to a full schedule of races in 2006, including the London marathon.

This year it will be represented by Sue Lloyd and Paul Coleman, both running their marathon debuts, and father and son Martin and Robert Dyde, who have clocked up many appearances at London between them.
