Dear Editor - May I appeal to those who take the decisions on land use and planning in and around Narberth to give serious consideration to the provision of accessible land for recreation for elderly people.

Planning decisions have provided the town with a large number of flats suitable for elderly people but failed to provide their occupants with somewhere safe to walk. The Town Moor, Narberth's recreation area has to be negotiated through moving and stationary vehicles, rendering it inaccessible for people who are poorly sighted. Would the relevant authorities allow a new school to be built without a suitable recreation area, or a new store without car parking and delivery space? Just giving consent for suitable homes to be built is not enough. The wider facilities necessary for a decent level of urban life should be seen as part of that provision.
