Mr D. L. Harries haverfordwest The death of Mr David Leslie George Harries occurred at his home in Prescelly Road, Haverfordwest, on April 16th. He was 59.

Mr Harries was from Croesgoch, St Davids, and as a young man worked as a farm labourer before settling into married life, and working as a builder's labourer. He retired in the early 1990s due to ill health.

His main interests were his grandchildren but he also loved car boot sales at weekends and collected clocks, teapots and oil lamps meeting many friends. He also loved flowers.

Family left to mourn are his wife Gillian, Petra and Kevin Dalkin (daughter and son-in-law); Alan (son); Robert and Kay (son and daughter-in-law); Lynda and Martyn (daughter and partner); Shelley, Mia, Owen, Jack, Sara, Leon, Nicole (grandchildren); Sharon and David (niece and husband).

The funeral was held at Prendergast Church, Haverfordwest, on April 26th, followed by interment at Prendergast Cemetery. The service was officiated by Canon Geofrey Gwyther.

The bearers were Robert Harries (son), Kevin Dalkin (son-in-law), Williams Swales, Darren Baker, Martin Ainsworth (nephews), Nigel Jones (family friend).

Mr T. R. George Newchapel The death occurred of Alderman Thomas Rees George at Bush House Nursing Home, Pembroke, on March 6th.

Born at Cilgwyn Farm, Newchapel in 1919, he was a keen farmer, and became a member of Boncath YFC, and later a member of the National Farmers' Union and was Pembrokeshire county chairman in 1955.

Elected to the Cemaes Rural District Council in 1952, he served on the council to 1974. From 1961 to 1974, Tom served as councillor for Pembrokeshire County Council.

Following local government reorganisation, Tom was then elected as a Dyfed county councillor in 1973 and retained this post, working tirelessly for the community, until its dissolution in March 1996.

Tom was a member of many committees such as the highways and transportation, social services and education committees.

He was also a member of the Dyfed Powys Police Authority and was its chairman during 1988-1989.

He sat on the governing bodies of many schools, and was the longest serving chairman of the board of governors at Ysgol y Preseli.

The highlight of Tom's career was his election as chairman of Dyfed County Council in 1980-1981, and he was awarded the OBE in 1982 for services to the community.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mair, in 2004, who supported him throughout his varied and active career.

Tom was a faithful and committed member of Newchapel MC Chapel and had been an elder for 50 years.

A well attended funeral was held at Newchapel on March 10th, following a private service at Cilgwyn. He was laid to rest alongside his wife at Blaenffos Cemetery.

Rev D. Lesley Jones, Pontarddulais, officiated; assisted by pastor Teifryn Harries.

Apologies were received from Rev Richard Williams Woodstock, and Rev J Towyn Jones, Carmarthen. The organist was Myfi James.

Floral tributes were from immediate family and staff of Bush House.

The funeral arrangements were conducted by Colin Phillips and Jackie Jenkins, Cardigan.

Mrs V. M. Phillips Trecwn The death occurred on April 23rd of Mrs Vera Mavis Phillips, aged 78. Mrs Phillips, of Wesley Place, Trecwn, died at Withybush Hospital.

She was born in Ditton Priors in Shropshire, moving to Trecwn in 1968 due to work commitments, where she brought up her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Family left to mourn are: Ronald (husband), Keith, Karen and Nicholas (children), Derek (son-in-law), Helen (daughter-in-law), Aniela, Kelly, Hayley and Ffion (grandchildren).

The funeral was held on Wednesday, May 3rd with a service at Feidr Chapel of Rest, Fishguard, followed by internment at Llanfair Nant-y-Gof Cemetery, Trecwn.

The service was conducted by Rev Geoffrey Eynon assisted by Rev Cecelia Charles.

The bearers were John Young, John Evans, John Lewis and Gethin Griffiths. The organist was Valerie Llewhelin.

MR F. C. GRAY LLANGWM The funeral took place at St Jerome's Church, Llangwm, on Friday, April 28th, of Frederick Charles Gray (Freddie), of Tides Reach, Llangwm, who died at Withybush Hospital on April 21st, aged 83.

The service was conducted by Rev Jane Goupillion and the large attendance at the church was testament to Freddie's popularity.

Originally from Winch Crescent, Haverfordwest, he was one of 11 children.

At 17, Freddie joined the army during the Second World War, serving with the Seaforth Highlanders and later joined the 9th Commandos.

He took part in the landings on Sicily and he saw action in North Africa and Italy where he was one of the first to land at Anzio Beach and also at Lake Cammachio in Northan Italy.

Although he was wounded on several occasions, he did not return to Haverfordwest until the end of the war, when he went into the building trade, following in the footsteps of his father and brothers.

He worked for several local contractors, spending the last 18 years with Pembrokeshire County Council.

After retirement, Freddie spent most of his time gardening, boating and doing DIY and his life revolved around his family - in particular his grandchildren.

Left to mourn are Kathleen (wife), Neil and Elisabeth (son and partner), Theresa and Nick (daughter and son-in-law), Nigel and Noreen, David and Pam (step-sons and daughters-in-law), Lucy, Amy, Lisa, Neil, Emma, Paul, Jayne, and Ghislaine (grandchildren), Aaron, Kyren, Ieuan, Myles, Michael, Liam and Joshua (great-grandchildren), Billy, Glyn, Michael (brothers), Glenwyn, Irma, Irene, Iris, Jean (sisters) and Rita (sister-in-law).

Mr J. J. Harry Red Roses MR Julian James Harry died after a long illness on Saturday April 1st at Glangwili Hospital, aged 55.

He was the husband of Anthea, father of Lee, Ian and Simon, a father-in-law and much-loved pops of Christopher, Kirsty, Chloe, Jake and Bethany.

The funeral took place of Thursday, April 6th at St Margaret's Church, Pendine.

The large gathering of family and friends was a testimony to his popularity.

The officiating ministers were Rev P. Nash and Rev N. Griffin.

Julian was a much-loved person in many circles of life, who lived for his family.

His leisure time was spent in sporting activities. He loved all sports and spent much time encouraging and supporting his sons in their love of motorcross, rugby and horse racing.

Along with his friends in Red Roses, Julian helped form the Red Roses rugby club in the early 1970s.

He religiously supported his sons throughout their playing careers for Narberth, St Clears and Laugharne.

Julian loved nothing more than going to Ludchurch to assist his son at the stables, looking after the horses and giving advice.

No matter how ill Julian felt, he always cherished the time he spent with the five grandchildren, of whom he was very proud.

The organist was Brian Nicholas.

Mrs e. evans Fishguard The funeral took place on Saturday, April 8th at Goedwig Baptist Chapel, Goodwick, with interment at Harmoni Chapel Cemetery of Mrs Elva Evans, Telynfa, Pen-yr-Aber, Fishguard.

The service was conducted by Rev Emlyn Jones assisted by Rev John Roberts, Rev Alwyn Daniels, Rev Carl Williams and Rev Menna Brown.

Unable to attend were Rev T. R. Jones, Rev Firian Wyn Lewis and Doctor Stanley John.

The organist was Elsie Owen.

The leaflets were distributed by John George and Victor Edwards.

Mr D. Carrusci Goodwick Mr Dino Carrusci, of Plasygamil Road, Goodwick, died at Withybush Hospital on April 24th.

One of four children, Dino was born in Sardinia in 1922.

During the Second World War, Dino served in the Italian army and saw action in North Africa where he was captured. He spent time in a prisoner of war camp in Pembrokeshire, which was followed by work on farms in the county.

During this time he met Kathleen and they married in 1948.

He later became an employee of British Rail, first in the loco department and then in the marine workshops at Fishguard Harbour. He remained there until his retirement.

Following his retirement he dedicated his spare time to Goodwick Football and Sports Clubs.

For many years he ran the Goodwick United second team and was a proud committee member of the Sports Club, holding various offices over the years.

In the last few years he was appointed president and he held this position with pride right up until the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn his wife Kathleen, sisters Marisa and Antoiniette and many nephews, nieces and other relatives.

Dino was received into the Church of the Holy Name, Fishguard on April 28th, prior to his funeral mass on April 29th and burial at Llanwnda Cemetery. The services were conducted by Mr C. H. Johnson.

Bearers were Michael Jackman, Kevin Merry, Tony Jones, Ken Bean, Edwin Howells, Brian Morris and Ian Couzens.

Mrs M. D. L. Davies Pembroke Dock The death occurred on March 26th of Margaret D. L. Davies, known as Nina, of Pembroke Dock, but formerly of Milford Haven. She was 90.

The funeral took place on April 5th at Parc Gwyn Crematorium and was conducted by Andrew Davies.

The principal mourners were Garfield Davies (husband); Anne Roberts and John (daughter and son-in-law); Peter and Julia Roberts (grandson and wife); Owen Roberts and Tania Gross (grandson and partner); Irene Rabaiotti and Iris Peters (sisters); and many nieces and nephews, relations and friends.

There were family flowers only, with donations for Cancer Research Wales.

MR A. J. FEELEY PEMBROKE DOCK The funeral took place at St Andrews Church, Pembroke Dock, on April 21st of Alan James Feeley of Pembroke Dock.

He died at his partner's home on April 13th, aged 58.

A native of Scotland, Mr Feeley had lived in Pembroke Dock for some years.

He died following heart surgery at The Heath Hospital, Cardiff.

Mr Feeley left school to join the RAF Police and later became a paramedic in Scotland.

Following a period as a sales manager in fire protection and in the family business he became a sales representative for the Wood Group, UK Fire, which took him to Wales. He retired due to ill-health.

Affectionately known as Posh Jock', among his leisure time pursuits were setting questions for quizzes, in which he also took part, and reading.

He was a weekly visitor to the library where he was popular. He was a church elder of the Church of Scotland and a senior advisor for the Citizens' Advice Bureau.

He leaves to mourn his partner Yvonne Doyle, his brother and sister-in-law Michael and Pat Feeley, nephews and nieces Michael, Paul and Angela and their families, son and family Kevin, Donna, Daisy and Millie, partner's daughter and family Michelle, Johnathan and Joe and mother-in-law Gwen, Babs Chilton, Lorraine, Peter and Teella, Gareth and Karen Petty, George and Pat Petty (partner's family).

The funeral service at St Andrew's Church was conducted by Rev Martin and was followed by interment in St Michael's Cemetery, Upper Lamphey Road.

His popularity was reflected in the number of friends who attended the funeral.

The bearers were Michael Feeley, Paul Feeley, Robbie Lamb and Dai O'Connor.

MRS M. E. JONES HAVERFORDWEST The funeral took place on April 25th of Margaret Eleanor (Peggy) Jones of 6, Stepney Terrace, Prender-gast, Haverfordwest.

She died at her home on April 16th, aged 82.

A native of Haverfordwest, she was well-known and popular and during her working career had a variety of jobs, including a post at the old county offices and as a dinner lady at Prendergast Infants School and a tea lady at the tax office.

Her last job before she retired in 1988 was as a physiotherapy aide at the County Hospital and later at Withybush Hospital.

She was devoted to her family and delighted to have recently become a great grandmother.

She was a talented pianist and her main leisure interests were music, reading, Dickens being a great favourite, caring for her pets and doing crosswords.

Predeceased by her husband Mr D. H. (Dougie) Jones, she leaves to mourn her sons Roderick and Michael, sister and brother-in-law Jean and Cyril Davies, sister-in-law Olga Edmond, grandchildren Simon, Kathy, Andrew and Hywel and great grandchildren Harri and Rhys.

The funeral service at her home on April 25th was followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, and interment at St Davids Church, Prendergast.

It was conducted by Canon Geoffrey Gwyther.

The principal mourners were her adoring sons and loving family, and all her friends, neighbours and colleagues who were touched by her love and kindness.

MR J. R. BOSWELL MILFORD HAVEN The funeral took place at the Hamilton Court Funeral Home on Tuesday of John Ronald Boswell of 101, Marble Hall Close, Milford Haven, who died at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, on April 24th, aged 57.

He was a well-known local pigeon fancier.

The funeral service. which was followed by interment at Milford Haven Cemetery, was conducted by Rev Martyn Evans, and the principal mourners were Mark and Karl Boswell (sons), Cecil and Marjorie, Vivian and Cas and family, Terry and June and family (brothers and sisters-in-law), Celia and family, Esther and Bryn, Beryl and Bernard and family, Cody, Eric and family, Minnie and Terry and family (sisters and brothers-in-law), Joyce and family and Sandra and family (sisters-in-law).

MRS D. E. CADWELL MILFORD HAVEN The funeral took place at Milford Haven on Friday of Doris Elizabeth (Betty) Cadwell of 11 Vicary Street, Milford Haven, who died at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, on April 24th, aged 83.

A native of Hazelbeach, she was a housekeeper for 26 years, also a shop owner, but her principal interest was being around her family.

She loved knitting and watching snooker and darts on television.

Predeceased by her husband Victory in May 1966, she leaves to mourn her daughter Sandra Paris, and sons and daughters-in-law Geoffrey and Liz Cadwell, Stephen and Kath Cadwell and Neil and Diana Cadwell, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister Kathleen Thomas and sister in Australia Iris Bunn.

The funeral service at Hamilton Court Chapel of Rest, which was followed by interment at Milford Haven Cemetery, was conducted by Rev Martyn Evans.

The principal mourners were her daughter, sons and daughters-in-law and sister Kath.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons, Milford Haven.

MRS M. I. JOHN STEPASIDE Margaret Irene John (known as Rene), of Ordon Grene, Pleasant Valley, Stepaside, died on April 16th aged 86.

A native of Wisemans Bridge, Rene worked at Trecwn munitions depot during the war and spent five years working with her nephew Tom Ellis in Saundersfoot.

She was a lifelong member of Stepaside Methodist Chapel. Rene was a talented singer with a beautiful soprano voice that was much in demand for concerts and local chapels and churches. In her younger days, she won many competitions.

She was also a member of Summerhill WI and Kilgetty Senior Citizens.

Rene leaves to mourn her husband Gordon John, Mike and Eira John (son and daughter-in-law), Babs Thomas (daughter), Adge John and Libby Taylor (son and partner), Val and Adrian Evans (daughter and son-in-law), Caroline and David Llewellyn, Jenny and Richard Barfoot, Gareth John and Sian Richards, Sarah and Marc Pudsey, Julian Thomas, Katie John and Gareth Jeffrey, Rhys John, Kirsty Evans and Matthew Bourne, Marc Evans (grandchildren), Lewys Pudsey, Rebecca Thomas, Sophie Barfoot (great-grandchildren).

Superintendent Methodist minister Rev Anthony Gregory conducted the funeral service at Stepaside Methodist Chapel, Pleasant Valley, on April 22nd.

It included a tribute by Joyce Lewis and a recording of Rene playing and singing The Lord is my Light - Psalm 27.

The service was followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium.

MRS M. J. M WESCOTT MERLINS BRIDGE Mabel Janet May Wescott died at her home at 78 Glen View, Merlins Bridge, on April 22nd, aged 87.

Mabel loved her family and had many friends who will miss her very much. These include the many people she met working at the Glen Hotel prior to her retirement in the late 1970s. But she did not retire completely, taking on a local paper route at Glen View.

Mabel was predeceased by her husband Charles Henry Wescott and leaves to mourn daughters and husbands Pearl and Hugh and Heather and Edward, great-granddaughter Arabella and grandchildren and husbands Kristina and Chad and Kathryn.

The funeral service, conducted by Canon Derek Evans, was held at St Thomas' Church on Friday, April 28th, followed by interment at City Road Cemetery.

The bearers were Paul Thomas (senior), Paul Thomas (junior), Lakey Wilmot and Gary Wilmot.

Principal mourners were Pearl and Hugh, Heather and Edward, Joyce Chell, Vernon Wilmot and Kay Thomas.

Mrs M.D.J. Owen Milford Haven The death occurred on April 21st at Fairfield Nursing Home, Johnston, of Margaret Derwen Joan Owen, formerly of 25 Starbuck Road, Milford Haven. She was aged 80.

A native of Milford Haven, Mrs Owen was a GPO telephonist before her marriage. She attended Tabernacle Church, loved her dogs and collecting candles.

Mrs Owen, who was predeceased by her husband William Edward Owen in 1984, leaves to mourn: Elizabeth and Alex Czaban (niece and husband); David and Lynn Cole (half brother and wife); John and Peggy Owen, Francis and Richard Owen (brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law); Paul and Heather, Gareth and Jayne, Christopher and Steph, Terry (nephews and wives); Tony (cousin).

The funeral took place on April 27th at Hamilton Court Funeral Home, Dartmouth Street, Milford Haven, and was followed by interment at Milford Haven Cemetery. Rev Martyn Evans officiated.

Principal mourners were: Elizabeth and Alex Czaban (niece and husband); David and Lynn Cole (half brother and wife); John and Peggy Owen, Francis and Richard Owen (brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law); Tony (cousin) and several friends. The matron and assistant matron of Fairfield Nursing Home, and Jim and friends, nursing home visitors, also attended the funeral.

Mr W. J. Jeffries Milford Haven William John (Billy) Jeffries died at his home, 20 Hanover Court, Robert Street, Milford Haven, on April 19th at the age of 64.

A native of Milford Haven, Mr Jeffries started his working life for Griffiths Bakery in Albion Street as a delivery boy He was then employed in the building and construction trade on refineries and houses; and as a rigger/steel erector on refineries.

Mr Jeffries, who retired in 1994 due to ill health, enjoyed swimming, shooting and gardening.

Left to mourn are: Edith (Dee Dee) Jeffries (wife); Mark and Jennifer Jeffries (son and daughter-in-law); Jayne and Jon Hadley (daughter and son-in-law); Eleanor and Gaynor Jeffries (grand-daughters); Jim Jeffries and family (brother); Maureen and Denny Allen (sister and brother-in-law); Karl and Kirsty Allen (nephew and niece); and numerous nephews and nieces.

The funeral took place on April 27th at Priory Road Methodist Church, Milford Haven, and was followed by interment at Milford Haven Cemetery.

Rev Colin Foreman officiated at the service and the bearers were Denny Allen (brother-in-law); Ian Armstrong (nephew); Karl Allen (nephew) and Frank Babb (cousin).

There were family flowers only, but donations for Barlow House District Nurses may be forwarded to Mr Mark Jeffries, 99 Skomer Drive, Milford Haven.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons Ltd, Milford Haven.

MR B. COLES HAVERFORDWEST The funeral of Brian Coles, of 54 Coronation Avenue, Haverfordwest, the eldest son of the late Ernest and Mary Coles, took place on Friday, April 7th.

The service was held at St Davids Church, Prendergast, followed by interment at Prendergast Cemetery. Officiating was Canon Geoffrey Gwyther.

The principal mourners were his three daughters and four grandsons, his three sisters and his brother.

There were family flowers only.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Roy Folland and Son, Haverfordwest.

MRS E. F. H. HUGHES MILFORD HAVEN The funeral took place at St David's Church, Hubberston, on May 5th of Mrs Eunice Frances Hilda Hughes, of 112 Waterloo Road, Hakin, Milford Haven, who died at Withybush Hospital, on April 30th. She was 70.

A native of Milford Haven, she worked on farms as a young woman, potato picking and working with animals, before undertaking numerous cleaning jobs.

Before she retired in 1996 she was a kitchen assistant at Rabbaiotti's Cafe in Milford Haven.

Her principal interests were her family, cats and birds and watching television.

Predeceased by her husband Robert James John Hughes in 1988, she leaves to mourn her sons and daughters Robert, Richard, Rachel, Rodney, Ralph, Moira, Janet and Nigel, grandsons and grand-daughters Adam, April, Arron and Hollie, sister and brother-in-law Joan and Frank Barnett, sister Rita James, nephews and nieces Mandy, Elaine, Steven, Michael, Tony and Tina.

The funeral service at St David's Church, Hubberston, on Friday May 5th was conducted by Rev Ian Girling and the bearers were her sons Robert, Richard, Rodney and Ralph Hughes.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons, Milford Haven.
