Haverfordwest Castle will be the historic setting for a medieval re-enactment group next month.

The Knights of the Longshank will be the star attraction of this year's Haverfordwest Festival Week.

The castle grounds will resound to the sound of fighting and the clash of swords and there will be archery and fire eating.

The 13th and 14th century re-enactment society recreate the period of British history during the Anglo/Welsh/Scottish wars and they travel the country performing their shows.

They will set up camp in Haverfordwest on Friday, July 7th, and public events will take place on Saturday, July 8th and Sunday, July 9th.

They will raid' the town to capture any worthy prizes on the Saturday morning.

The group is not exclusively a combat society and over the years it has steadily built up its living history section.

It is currently looking for people from all walks of life to join that side of the group.

The Festival Week will once again bring dance, music, colour, events and activities to Haverfordwest.

Starting on Saturday, July 8th, the week will include the traditional Beating of the Bounds ceremony and the River Festival on Tuesday, July 11th.

It will finish with a Victorian Church Fire and Brimstone service on Sunday, July 15th.

The day before, Saturday, July 14th, Haverfordwest Round Table will be holding its annual carnival.

A new feature this year will be Festival Favourites, a baby picture competition run courtesy of the Western Telegraph.

Details will be coming soon.
