Miss S. Lewis

It is with sadness that the family and friends learned of the death of Miss Selina Lewis, Geli-deg, Newport. She died at Withybush Hospital on April 13th aged 32.

Selina was born at the County Hospital and spent all her short life at Gelli-deg with her mother and father Olive and the late Watkin Lewis.

At the age of five she started school at Eglwyswen and when it closed, moved to the special unit at Crymych CP School, and then on to Portfield Special School. Selina was greatly loved by all who taught her and came into contact with her. During her childhood she enjoyed being out on the farm with her father Watkin helping to feed the sheep and in the spring she loved to bottle-feed the orphaned lambs.

As she matured Selina lost the ability to walk, but she remained a happy girl, and loved life, in particular her trips out in the car, television programmes such as Noson Lawen, walks out in the wheelchair to see the ewes and lambs and a large part of her daily life was to listen to music on her CD player. She also loved to hear her father sing to her and would try to join in.

Selina had a fantastic sense of humour and during later years while needing special care, she kept both her mum and carers laughing. She looked forward to every day and the fun each day would bring.

She will be missed and be remembered with great love by all who came in close contact with her.
