A pioneering scheme which enlists dog walkers as extra eyes and ears in their community will be launched in Tenby today (Thursday).

Dogwatch, introduged by Tenby neighbourhood policing team, is similar to Neighbourhood Watch. Dog walkers are encouraged to report anything suspicious or any anti-social behaviour they see on their usual walking routes.

PCSO Mandy Goodland said: "Due to the fact that dog walkers tend to walk their dogs at the same time and location daily they seem the logical group of people to get on board to help to reduce crime and anti social behaviour in and around Tenby.

"Any dog walkers in Tenby, Penally, New Hedges and Saundersfoot are welcome to join the scheme."

The scheme is being launched from 6-8pm at Augustus Place Community Hall, this evening as part of Neighbourhoods in Action week.

Everyone who signs up gets a free welcome pack.
