Using cannabis for medicinal purposes will see a Milford Haven woman returned to Swansea crown court next month.

Twenty-two year old Suzanne Bladen of John Lewis Street, Hakin entered a guilty plea to a charge of cannabis possession at Haverfordwest magistrates court yesterday (Tuesday).

The court heard that Bladen, currently on a suspended sentence for possession of cannabis with intent to supply, was found by police with approximately six grammes of cannabis in her home in July.

Prosecutor, Ellie Morgan told the court that police estimated its value at £21 and Bladen admitted it was for her own personal use.

In her defence, solicitor Alun Morgan said that she had suffered from severe pain caused by curvature of the spine and hip problems since the age of 14, and was closely involved with doctors to relieve this pain.

He said: “Her only intention when taking or smoking the cannabis was to ease the pain she suffers on a daily basis.

“She realises she has let herself down but unfortunately the pain became so unbearable that she thought it was the only way.”

Magistrates ruled that the case should be sent to Swansea Crown Court to be dealt with, Bladen will appear on September 10th.
