Early indications of a bumper Easter period for Pembrokeshire’s tourist industry has been backed up by visitor figures to the county’s Tourist Information Centres (TICs).

Visitors to Pembrokeshire’s seven Tourism Information Centres over the period between Good Friday and Easter Monday were well up on last year.

During the four days 7,168 people came through the doors of the TICs compared to 4,451 for the same period in 2010.

Of the total number of visitors, 2,207 were local (938 in 2010); 6,536 (4,119) were domestic visitors and 532 (332) were from overseas.

Visitors to the TIC in Ocean Lab, Goodwick, more than doubled from last year – 3,846 compared to 1,572 last year.

And the story was the same at the TIC in Fishguard Town Hall which dealt with 436 customers over the holiday period – almost twice last year’s figure.

Visitor totals for Tenby and Saundersfoot TICs were much the same as last year – although there was a big leap in the number of foreign visitors to the latter from seven to 55.
