County lights up with festive cheer

First published in County News

Pembrokeshire lit up with Christmas spirit with many towns turning on their festive lights this weekend.

Hundreds of people gathered in Haverfordwest to see town mayor Cllr Ken Wyburn turn on the Christmas lights, followed by an impressive fire works display.

There was music from Jay James Picton and others on the Radio Pembrokeshire tour as well as puppet shows and children's rides.

There were also crowds in Milford Haven, enjoying a lantern parade before the town's lights were turned on for Christmas.

Narberth's Winter Festival featured floats, walkers and costumes in an illuminated parade as well as lots of fun entertainment for children and families.

A lively procession with fire dancers and discoing Father Christmases made its way through the town, the first in south west Wales to hold a winter carnival.

There was also an abundance of Christmas spirit in Fishguard when the lights were turned on for the festive period.

Switching on the new Christmas lights in Fishguard on Friday night were Shaveen Edirisinghe from Holy Name school and Rachael Morgan of Ysgol Glannau Gwaun.

There was also festive cheer in St Davids, with an early visit from Father Christmas who boosted spirits before the lights were turned on by mayor Cllr John George.

See Wednesday's Western Telegraph for more Christmas lights photos.

There is only a few lights in Pembroke Dock, I live in hope that there will be more. We need the town to look festive to attract shoppers.
