A local football player is to stand trial accused of assault during a match.
Dean Scourfield, of Ramsey Court, Monkton, appeared before Judge Huw Davies at Swansea crown court on Friday for a preliminary hearing.
Brian Simpson, prosecuting, said he understood Scourfield would enter a plea of not guilty at a plea and case management hearing on September 19.
Judge Davies said in anticipation of that he would fix Scourfield’s trial for January 7.
Scourfield was granted bail meanwhile.
The incident was alleged to have taken place during a match on February 15.
