"Roads will be re-opened as soon as possible. We thank the public for their patience during this incident."

This followed an earlier statement on the incident which caused huge traffic tailbacks, where police said: "Dyfed-Powys Police officers are responding to a report of a female in distress at Freemans Way, Haverfordwest.

"They were called to the scene at 7.20am and remain at scene.

The spokesperson added that a minor traffic accident had also happened as the roads became gridlocked: "A minor road traffic collision occurred on Merlin’s Bridge Hill at approximately 7.35am this morning.

"A police car and a lorry were involved in the collision. No one was injured."

Freemens Way and Clay Lanes were closed in Haverfordwest this morning causing traffic and delays for many.

The roads were blocked off to cars and pedestrians, causing major tailbacks along all main roads into the town.
