Jamie Owen is to leave his long-standing role as a presenter of BBC Wales Today, it has been announced today (Tuesday).
The journalist, who was born in Haverfordwest and brought up in Pembroke Dock, has fronted the flagship news broadcast for 22 years.
Jamie will leave BBC Wales to join TRT World, a Turkish-backed broadcaster, according to BBC Wales Arts and Media Correspondent Huw Thomas, who revealed the news in a series of tweets on Tuesday afternoon.
He had joined the BBC in 1989 and became part of the presenter line-up in 1994.
Jamie Owen said: “I’ve had a blast at BBC Wales - but the offer to front international news on a global platform is an offer too good to refuse”
