Dear Editor - Three cheers for Ann Dureau of Llanreath and her letter in the Western Telegraph May 23rd edition which cited her concerns regarding the proposed development of a marina and housing complex at West Llanion Pill, Pembroke Dock.

Until now I've been a little reluctant to state my views regarding this very contraversial issue. However, now is as good a time as any to start a campaign to prevent a project which in my opinion will ruin the history and soul of Pembroke Dock.

I'm all in favour of a marina-type development scheme which will enhance what has become a rather sad and depressed area of the town, but to build such a gigantic eyesore right in our midst is to beggar belief.

What we really need is a development where everyone can have easy and safe access to the waterfront free of charge. Somewhere where they can improve their skills, both in and on the water, or just enjoy the view.

Finally, let's not all be hoodwinked into accepting this project by being offered some carrots in the form of a multiplex cinema, restaurants and pubs, or a quayside retail hall (whatever that is). If it were that good for Pembroke Dock and its people then it would sell itself.

George H.Rees.
