THE emergency services were called out on Sunday afternoon (September 21) following reports of a surfer caught in a rip tide at Whitesands beach.
St Davids inshore lifeboat received the call at 2.45pm and rushed to the scene.
Prior to the crew’s arrival, a member of the public had managed to help the man to shore.
He was treated in the back of the ambulance by paramedics, before being discharged.
Also in attendance were first responders, coastguards and a road ambulance.
An RAF rescue helicopter was dispatched from Chivenor but it was stood down as it was not required.
