GOODWICK Brass Band’s accomplishments over the past year have earned them a place in the world’s top 100 rankings.

World of Brass and 4BarsRest.com place Goodwick 82nd in the world after the latest round of contests alongside bands not only from all parts of Britain, but in Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Denmark and Sweden.

Now competing in the First Section, one step below the Championship, Goodwick is in the top 10 of Welsh bands, and its musical director Matthew Jenkins believes that a place at the very top table of UK banding is achievable.

He said: “It is good to be representing Pembrokeshire and Wales in a set of world rankings, and it encourages us to keep trying to reach the very highest level.

“When you consider what this youthful band has achieved then anything is possible and we’ll be working hard to perfect our techniques and sounds in the coming months.”

As well as competing regularly across Wales, and with a date in the diary for the UK finals again this September, Goodwick Brass Band continues to entertain at numerous events around the county, with its latest CD demonstrating the band's versatility, entertainment value, and competitive qualities.

Supporting the main band is the Goodwick Community Band which provides a platform for the up and coming youngsters, as well as a social playing opportunity for senior members.
