PLANNING permission has been granted for a new housing development in Goodwick.

ABP Properties Ltd sought full planning permission to build 23 houses on Goodwick Industrial Estate.

The site is made of up a parcel of land located just off Main Street. It was formerly occupied by a factory building and all that remains is the concrete slab.

The proposal will be made up of a terrace of 10 houses located to the east of the site, which run parallel with the railway line. They are designed over three storeys with integrated garages on the ground floors.

To the north and west of this terrace, there are 13 further dwellings which are a mixture of detached and semi-detached units, all of which include contemporary design features.

A number of representations have been received about the application, objecting on numerous grounds, including the lack of demand for housing in the town and its location adjacent to the Goodwick Conservation Area.

The decision to grant approval was made under delegated powers. The officer’s report said: “It is considered that the proposal complies with the requirements of the Development Plan and that planning permission should be forthcoming.”

Approval is subject to conditions and the completion of an S106 agreement.
