HAVERFORDWEST will be kicking off the festive season with a host of town centre events this Saturday (November 30).

A Victorian Christmas fair, featuring a range of local gifts and foods, will be followed by the annual Christmas lights switch-on, and a grand fireworks display.

Organised by Cylch Meithrin playgroup leader Caroline Parsons, the fair will be raising essential funds for the charity, which provides early-years care for children through the medium of Welsh.

Shoppers will be able to enjoy a glass of spiced fruit punch and a mince pie while browsing a range of local crafts and produce, including face painting, handmade fudge, traditional sweets, Christmas decorations, handmade jewellery, cards and other stalls.

There will also be a raffle and tombola, and a magic show for children at 3pm.

Caroline said she wanted to do something different to raise funds this year, and involve the local community.

“The family was very important to the Victorians, and Christmas was a time for family and goodwill.

“We have been fantastically supported by Riverside Shopping, Haverfordwest, and local businesses, staff, parents, committee and the community.”

Throughout the afternoon there will also be live entertainment from Radio Pembrokeshire, and Mayor of Haverfordwest Councillor Jackie Westrup will be on stage from 5.30pm as the countdown begins for the official ‘switching on’ of the town’s Christmas lights, followed by a fireworks display.
