A SELECTION of award-winning Christmas cakes are on offer for local charities thanks to bakers at Cawdor Barracks.

Cakes were cooked up by both military and Sodexo chefs as part of the annual at 14th Signal Regiment (Electronic Warfare) Christmas competition, with Mayor of Haverfordwest Cllr Jackie Westrup and regiment officers in charge of the judging.

L/Cpl Liam Loveday was declared the winner with his “Corps-themed” cake, and runner-up was Beth John, of Sodexo, with her “stag at Christmas” cake.

The winners were then entered into the Wales and West competition in Shrewsbury, and beat off cakes from other Army units, with Miss John claiming first in the under-25s section, and L/Cpl Loveday coming second in the over-25s section.

One of the cakes was sold at Cllr Westrup’s charity auction on Sunday, and another four are still up for grabs for local charities.
