GOLDEN Grove’s very own ‘super person’ was recognised for her hard work at the school’s superhero-themed World Book Day earlier this month (March).

PCSO Carla Thomas was presented with her commendation for divisional community officer of the year 2013 for all her hard work in the community, especially at the Pembroke primary school.

The school choir performed for officers at the recent commendation evening to support PCSO Thomas’ success.

Many of the books from the school library came alive as pupils dressed up as supermen, superwomen, Batman, Batgirls and other well-known superheroes to celebrate World Book Day.

During the school assembly pupils learnt about different books and authors by taking part in a quiz.

A school spokesman said: “It was clear that the pupils are avid readers, displaying their knowledge of the text and authors of their preferred books.”
