A NEW chapter is beginning at one Pembroke primary school’s library.
Thanks to the huge support of families and friends, Golden Grove pupils have raised
£650 for new books for the school’s very popular library.
The library, which is run by classroom monitors, is visited daily by pupils from throughout the school, changing their reading scheme books and borrowing others.
To coincide with the school’s World Book Day celebrations earlier this month, pupils were sponsored to read to an adult at home each day.
Those involved in the fundraising were thanked during a school assembly and presented with certificates. One pupil from each class was awarded a prize book.
Meanwhile, there was much excitement over the arrival of 12 new chicks as they hatched in an incubator in the school foyer.
Although the chicks were part of a year two a science project, the fluffy friends have captured everyone’s hearts.
Pupils have been learning about the life cycle of a chicken, as well as keeping a log on the birth of each chick, including the date, time and incubator data.
The two-week science project was arranged with Living Eggs and follows a similar successful project last year.
