A REPRESENTATIVE from an association which aims to share the Christian message with people in the armed forces has visited churches throughout the county, including Pembroke.

“It’s good to be reminded that our troops are human beings too” said Rob James, pastor of Westgate Chapel, Pembroke.

“They have the same needs and feelings as the rest of us, and it is a privilege to support both them and those who are trying to show them God loves them.”

Rob was speaking during a visit from the Soldiers’ and Airment’s Scripture Reading Association’s (SASRA’s) south Wales area representative Matthew Glass.

SASRA began informally among troops in 1818 but now have charters covering their work with both the army and the air force.

All of the readers have served in the armed forces, and are all committed Christians and gifted evangelists.

"Their main purpose is to share the Christian message with all service personnel who will listen,” said Rob.

Matthew said: “The Welsh are always great supporters of SASRA especially here in Pembrokeshire. It's been good to advance the work among the SASRA-supporting churches.”

Scripture reader Bob Elliot of Haverfordwest said SASRA was well-received by the troops at Castlemartin.
