THIRTY second-language Welsh pupils from Pembroke’s Golden Grove Ysgol Gelli Aur School were given an opportunity to improve their language skills during a recent visit to the Urdd Gobaith Cymru Centre at Llangranog.

The pupils took part in a range of exciting activities including High Ropes, Archery, Tobogganing and Quad Biking.

Under the careful supervision of the centre staff they scaled the heights of the rope wall and the high wire obstacle course.

The shouts of “Yessss!” as they succeeded in their endeavours was proof enough that everyone was having a good time. On the slopes they managed to get to grips with the snowplough movement, and getting up from tumbles too.

There was time too for accompanying staff to have a go, with Miss Watton giving an excellent demonstration of climbing skills on the high ropes.

The three days passed by all too quickly, the weary, but happy, children made their way back home to Pembroke.

The pupils were supervised on the trip by Miss Denton, Miss Watton and Miss Williams to who the pupils gave a huge “Thank You” at the end of their time away.

Head Teacher AndrewWilliams said: “The pupils had a fantastic time in Llangranog, they were able to improve their Welsh skills while having a great time and meeting pupils from other schools.”
