A GROUP of intrepid motorcyclists are revving up for an 800 mile coast to coast challenge.

Around 20 people have signed up to take part in the Whitesands to Whitecliffs charity ride on May 3 to raise money for the Special Needs Assessment Playgroup (SNAP) at Withybush Hospital.

The event has been organised by Neil Owen and Anna Picton of St Davids whose two-year-old son Archie has been diagnosed with severe Autism. But thanks to SNAP he is learning to cope with outdoor life, is mixing well with other children, and is well on the way to learning how to communicate using picture cards.

Neil and Anna said: “The work that they put in to helping our son and other children in this county is immeasurable. The staff there know exactly how to work with him.

“They are hugely unrecognised for the wonderful work they do in our county with pre-school aged children with additional needs.

“We own Podium Motorcycle Training in Haverfordwest and we hope to use our reputation as a professional training establishment to raise the profile of SNAP, and help people to understand why it is so essential to our county.”

Neil and Anna hope to raise around £5,000 to create a larger play area for the group and buy new sensory toys and equipment for the children.
