A NORTH Pembrokeshire business has struck gold after scooping a prestigious business award.

Following an assessment at the end of last year, Celtic Camping and Bunkhouse Accommodation, based in Berea just outside of St Davids, has been accredited with the Investors in People Gold Award.

The Gold Award honours companies which perform above and beyond the core standard. To date only three businesses in Pembrokeshire have achieved gold accreditation.

TV personality Griff Rhys Jones popped over to Celtic Camping recently to present the award with Jonathan Hughes, the National Trusts’ Regional Manager for Pembrokeshire.

Celtic Camping is a family run business that provides bunkhouse, camping and group accommodation on the 250 acre Welsh National Trust farm Pwll Caerog, overlooking the Pembrokeshire Coast.

Some of the regular visiting groups include Brownies, Girl Guides, Scouts, Duke of Edinburgh participants, and rugby tours, who partake in a variety of activities such as clay shooting, coastal hiking, sea kayaking, coasteering and bush craft skills.

The farm also has a stage barn with bar, and an occasional marquee for events. Some of the annual events which have proved popular include the charity boxing match ‘Brawl in Berea’, and the mud run, which is due to take place on Saturday, May 10.

Ian Griffiths, owner of Celtic Camping and Director of Pembrokeshire Tourism, is delighted with achieving the Gold Award.

He said: “It is evident that all our hard work and team effort has paid off by achieving this accreditation. I’d like to dedicate this to my late wife Judy whose legacy continues through education and inspiration as people engage with the countryside in this a wonderful location.”
