MRS A. K. EVANS

THE death occurred of Alison Kerr ‘Lally’ Evans, of Ffynnonwen Farm, Login, Whitland on January 23rd at Glangwili Hospital.

Her funeral took place at the parish church of St Cledwyn’s in Llanglydwen on January 30th.

A large gathering of family and friends were present to hear the vicar Jonathan Copas celebrate Alison’s life, from the time she moved to Meidrim, Carmarthenshire, from Buckinghamshire with her parents Ian Kerr Bonner and the late Audrey together with sisters Fiona and Elspeth and later to be joined by Robert.

After schooling, her career began in the Animal Health Department, Carmarthen, then shifted to the Department of Social Security in Bromley, Kent.

Following her marriage to Richard in 1971, she began a career in farming along side a move to Haverfordwest with the DHSS. She was a tireless member of St Clears Young Farmers Club and later became chairperson.

Following the birth of two sons, William and Duncan, she decided to work on the farm with her family. As time went by a great many interests stimulated her, each involving people who became life-time friends from rugby following to agriculture and gardening qualifications.

For the last few years she suffered from ill-health, but she soldiered on taking part in the trialling of new drugs and it was her inner strength that allowed her to enjoy some wonderful moments in her life together with the friendship of others.

The family were cheered by her being able to enjoy Sian joining William as his wife, and the formative years of her two grandchildren, Scarlett and Cari.

There were family flowers only, with donations for the Chemotherapy Unit at Glangwili Hospital being received by W. J. K. Davies and Sons, Blaenwern, Bro Waldo, Clynderwen, who also carried out the funeral arrangements.
