Mrs E R Mason

Cilgerran

Formerly of Treiago St David’s

A LARGE gathering of family, friends, neighbours and past colleagues attended the funeral at St David’s Cathedral on October 29 of a much loved and respected lady, Mrs Eluned Rose (Lynne) Mason of Avalon, Cilgerran and formerly of Treiago , St David’s.

A family service was held the previous evening to receive her into the Cathedral.

Eluned Rose Mason (known as Lynne) was born at Treiago Farm, St David’s, a middle daughter of Margaret and Wilkin Davies’ very happy large family.

She attended St David’s Church School and later St David’s Grammar School.

After leaving school Lynne studied at Neyland Technical College where she obtained her secretarial qualifications.

She then commenced her career in the Western Telegraph Office as a proof reader, eventually becoming Head of Department.

As a young woman Lynne participated in Jalopy Racing where she excelled in “Black Bess” her favourite racing car.

Lynne met her husband Jason at the Masonic Hall in Haverfordwest. They went on to get married in St David’s Cathedral on September 30 1978 and recently celebrated their anniversary of 36 happy years together.

After retirement from the Telegraph Office, Lynne worked as a carer for Pembrokeshire Care and later dedicated her life to care for her wonderful mother.

Lynne loved her large garden in Cilgerran and spent many happy hours tending to it and enjoyed the company of her wonderful neighbours.

She was a loving caring person who without question would go out of her way to care for so many people, especially her sister Pat, brotherin- law Huw and brother John during their long illnesses. If there was a problem she was always there and was more concerned for others than herself.

She will be sorely missed by all the family and everyone who had the privilege to know her. “Aunty Lynne” will be particularly missed by all her nephews and nieces with their fond memories of fun with her at Treiago when they visited as children.

Later as they grew up she continued to be part of their lives and their children also had the joy of knowing and loving a very special Aunt.

She leaves to mourn her husband John Arthur (Jason) Mason; Mabs and John, Eirys and Dave, Joy and Phil (sisters and brothers in law); Tony and Mair, Mel and Norma (brothers and sisters in law); and loving nephews and nieces Sharon, Cathy, Ceri, Mark and Sarah, John Miles, Gary and Caroline, Amanda, Andrew and Richard, Rebecca and Robert and their partners.
