Mr G C C Goodridge

Neyland

MR Geoffrey Charles Clifford Goodridge of Vale Road, Neyland, Milford Haven passed away on July 9 at Withybush Hospital. He was 79.

Originally from Hakin, Milford Haven he was an industrial sand blaster and painter at local refineries and also away in England and Scotland.

He retired in 1983 due to ill health.

His service record included the Welsh Fusiliers during national service and he got to the rank of corporal and served in Malaysia and Cyprus from 1955 to 1958.

He was predeceased by his wife Marion in June 2006 and his eldest daughter Sandra in April 2006. In his younger years he was a member of the ROAB where they used to meet in Rosemarket Country Club, where he played pool and darts. In later life he enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren and Ruby.

When Marion was alive they attended on a regular basis going to St Clements Church, with friends. Sometimes their granddaughter, went with them.

He was very proud to see the marriage of his granddaughter Danielle Parry get married in St Teilo’s Catholic Church in Tenby. He was one very happy grandfather.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Jayne Leggett (daughter); Angela Parry (daughter); Phillip Leggett and Richard Hein (sons-in-law); Gareth Hein and partner (grandson); Samantha Hein and partner; Natasha Hein, Hannah Leggett, Emma Leggett and Danielle Ninneman (granddaughters); Dustin Ninnemann (grandson-in-law); Nico Goldsmith and Taio Hein (great grandsons); Sienna Blain, Shylo Goldsmith and Nayer Blain (great granddaughters); Doreen Jones (sisterin- law); Elain Evans and Christopher Evans (niece and husband); Gareth Evans (great nephew); Linda, Kerry and Helen Goodridge (nieces) and many more nieces, nephews and family members too numerous to mention.

The service was held at St Clements Church, Neyland on July 14 followed by interment in Neyland Cemetery.

It was officiated by Reverend Chadwick.

The bearers were Phillip Leggett, Peter Blain, Gareth Hein, Teddy Saunders, Dustin Ninnemann, Andrew Parry.

Donations in lieu to CDU, Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Shane at Tom Newing and Sons Ltd, of Milford Haven.

Mrs E Laugharne

Llangwm

MRS Enid Laugharne died unexpectedly, but peacefully, aged 96 at her home in Rectory Road, Llangwm on July 25.

She was predeceased in death by her husband Cecil and son Kenneth.

She was born in Llangwm and lived there her whole life.

She was educated in Llangwm School and this was also were she met and married Cecil for over 60 years.

Enid’s life was full and varied, working the land, herring fishing and working for Tesco up to her retirement at 60. She took great joy in her garden which was a credit to her and much admired by the village.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Joan and Vaughan Graham (daughter and son-in-law); Michael, Robert and Tony Nichols (grandsons); Patricia and Ian Chalmers (granddaughter and grandson-inlaw), plus nine great grandchildren.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent c/o The Health Care Centre, Winch Lane, Haverfordwest SA61 1RN in aid of Macmillan Nurses.

Enid’s funeral was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on August 4 and was attended by many of those whose lives she had touched. The Rev Roger Heart officiated the service. The grandchildren were bearers. Enid’s granddaughter Patricia Chalmers gave the eulogy, reminiscing, loving and funny tales of her very special life.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Glyn Thomas of Freystrop.

Mrs D M Davies

Hakin

MRS Dilys Mary Davies, of Observatory Avenue, Hakin, died at Withybush Hospital on July 19 aged 86.

The eldest daughter of Jack and Gladys Picton, Mrs Davies was born in Milford Haven but brought up in Neyland.

She went to Pembroke Dock Grammar School before training as a nurse.

She married the late Ron Davies at Llanstadwell Church in 1949 and the couple had seven children.

She returned to nursing in the early sixties and worked at several hospitals. When Kensington Hospital closed she went to work in Neyland and then Milford Haven as a District Nurse until retirement.

Mrs Davies was a keen baker, particularly well known for her Welsh cakes. She knitted for her children and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends.

She was awarded the Founder’s Day Citizenship Award in 1999 for her voluntary work and was involved with the RVS for 20 years doing the hospital tea bar, Meals on Wheels and Hubberston Luncheon Club.

She also belonged to Hakin Ladies Glades and attended the church services at Dairy Park every Wednesday.

Mrs Davies was well-known and respected throughput the area, putting herself out to help others and will be greatly missed.

The family left to mourn are Lynda Jones (daughter); John and Anne Davies (son and daughter-in-law); Gill Gilliland (daughter); Kathryn Walters (daughter); Andrew and Sue Davies (son and daughter-in-law); Alison and Ian Burnard (daughter and son-in-law); Julie and Mark Jones (daughter and son-inlaw), David Picton (brother); Mary and Bernard Rowe (sister and brother-in-law); Derek Picton (brother) and Margaret Lewis (partner); Owain and Susan Picton (brother and sister-in-law) 16 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

The funeral was held at St David’s Church, Hubberston on July 28 followed by interment at Milford Haven Cemetery.

Tom Newing and Sons of Milford Haven carried out the funeral arrangements.

Mrs F B Tillotson

Pembroke

MRS Flora Bainbridge Tillotson passed away at Ashdale Nursing Home, Pembroke on July 10. She was 96.

Originally from Cornwall, she worked in catering management.

Her main interests were bridge, sewing, knitting (machine), travel, helping others, baby sitting for children and infirm to help friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Mr James Edward Tillotson (Ted).

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Mr and Mrs G Ward (son and daughter-in-law); Mr and Mrs Meakin (granddaughter and husband); Mr S Francis (grandson); Mr and Mrs V Davies with children and grandchildren (friends); Mrs S Baker (Reddich, friend); Mrs N Williams (Craft Court, friend); Mrs J Church and family, plus friends.

The service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth and it was officiated by Mr Mike Ashbridge (humanist celebrant).

The bearers were G Ward (son); S Francis (grandson); Jamie Evans (surrogate grandson); Morgan James (surrogate grandson).

Donations for Pembrokeshire Blind Society who helped when her eye sight failed c/o E C Thomas and Son, Llanteg, Narberth who also carried out the funeral arrangements.
