Mr A Curcio

Milford Haven

MR Attilio Curcio of Caldey Way, Milford Haven passed away on September 19 at Withybush Hospital.

He was 78.

He had a varied career history including an apprenticeship in carpentry in Italy.

He trained and worked as a painter and decorator (a job he enjoyed immensely).

Attilio started his working life in Pembrokeshire as a farm labourer and latterly as a fitters mate and Fire Safety Officer on the Oil Refineries.

Attilio’s greatest achievements in his eyes were to marry, buy a home and have children. He achieved all three and was proud of that.

A very humble man, Attilio was hard working, principled, pragmatic and playful.

He was a wonderfully loyal husband, a very much loved father to his girls and an adoring and adored grandad.

Attilio was well liked and respected by many, a popular character who was noted for his resilience and fortitude.

When Attilio had the opportunity, he enjoyed tending to his garden, caring for the family cat and immersing himself in his wordsearch book.

Attilio leaves to mourn his wife, Annette; daughters Anne and Allison; son-inlaw Jeremy, beloved grandchildren William, Charlie and Florence; brother-in-law John and wife Beryl and their children. Attilio’s family in Italy, brothers Emilio, Romano, Domenico and sister Rosina, sisters-in-law, Maria Therese and Rosetta plus numerous nieces and nephews are also left to mourn.

The funeral was held at St David and St Patricks Catholic Church, Haverfordwest on September 27 followed by interment at Prendergast Cemetery, Haverfordwest.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons, of Milford Haven.

Mr W N Watts

He passed away suddenly on August 30, when he was 86 years old.

Norman’s first career choice was as a Blacksmith and it was whilst studying in Newtown and boarding at Caersws, that he first met his future wife, Miss Kathleen Evans. Eventually, he landed a job in Shrewsbury and a marriage followed in the Summer of 1963.

After the sad death of Norman’s father, it was decided to move back to Pembrokeshire and run the family farm. Norman and Kathy enjoyed 35 years at Walwyn’s Castle before retirement beckoned and they decided it would be nice to see out their Autumn years back in Caersws.

Norman and Kathy made their home at 4 Maes Glas and soon settled back into Kathy’s old Home Town.

Unfortunately on December 25, 2011 Kathy passed away after a short illness but Norman found great comfort with the many friends and family that lived nearby.

The funeral took place on Monday September 19 at Caersws Baptist Chapel which followed an earlier morning service at Shrewsbury Crematorium.

Norman leaves to mourn his sister and brother-in-law Gwen and Bartle Morgan; brother-in-law Brian Griffiths; sister-in-law Betty Jones; nieces Christine Gates, Caroline Davies, Christine Lewis, Ann Jones, Wendy Cheshire, Edwina Taylor, Heather Slater, Margaret Clark, Elaine Thompson, Mary Morris and Anne Breese; nephews Adrian Griffiths, Neil Griffiths, Timothy Watts, Mark Watts, Stephen Lovegrove, Robert Evans and Robert Foulds.
