Mrs S Hier

Spain

Formerly of Pembrokeshire

MRS Sandra Hier passed away peacefully with her much loved husband, James by her side after a brief illness on September 25 in Valez Malaga, Spain.

She was 77.

Sandra was born in Bootle, Liverpool and went on to live in Neyland, Milford Haven, Johannesburg, South Africa and Torrox Costa, Malaga.

She was most happy spending time with her children and grandchildren, preferably with a glass of wine.

A most loving, even-tempered and patient mother and grandmother, she epitomised the word selfless, always doing everything for her children and husband, smiling and rolling her eyes at the same old stories James would tell.

Sandra and James met on February 1 1958 in Bootle and they married at St. Leonards Church in Liverpool on June 12 1965.

They settled at Leonardston House, Pembrokeshire in Wales, where their first two children, James and Juliette, were born. In 1970 they emigrated to South Africa, where their youngest child, Andrea, was born.

Sandra loved her work and had a special place for her time and colleagues at Dunlop Liverpool, Ellerines Johannesburg and finally the South African Institute of Welding also in Johannesburg.

In 2000 both Sandra and James retired, which is when they began a rich and happy retirement spending their time between Spain and South Africa, traveling Europe and visiting America and Australia to see friends and their grandchildren.

She always loved coming to Spain, which they had first visited in 1960, and their dream of owning a home there was realized in 1995.

This year they had decided that they would make Torrox their permanent home. A dream come true for her.

Sandra was one of three children born to the late Hilda and Robert Kellie, and is preceded in death by her brothers Robert and David.

Sandra was the beloved wife of James Hier for over 51 years, and will forever be remembered by her devoted children and spouses James and Erica Hier (Sydney, Australia); Juliette Hier (Cape Town, South Africa); Andrea and Scott Rosenzweig (Bozeman, Montana, USA); treasured grandchildren Melissa, Isabella and Sienna Hier, Nicole and Sabrina Fraenkel, and Simon, Ava and Dylan Rosenzweig, along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know her.

A funeral service was held on Friday September 30 in Velez Malaga, Spain where all three children were present and spoke in celebration of her life, after which she was cremated.
