Mr P S Hall

Cresselly

MR Peter Sydney Hall of Whitehill, Cresselly died on October 31, aged 69.

Born in 1947 at Ashleigh House, Sageston to the late Veenie and Jenkin Hall, Mr Hall started school in Sageston, moving on to Coronation School in Pembroke Dock.

He left school at 15 to start the first of many jobs including delivering for the Co-op, T P Hughes and working at the quarry. With a love for sport, particularly cricket and football which he played for many hours as a youngster, he soon found these jobs interfered with his sporting timetable, so he left.

Having started his cricket career at the young age of 12, he played for Carew 1st team and soon made a mark on the local cricket scene.

Peter, known locally as Horlicks, played for Carew, Cresselly, Lamphey, St Florence, Kilgetty and Hook during a long cricket career.

He was described as one of the constant and enduring figures in village sport and an outstanding player. He was also a member of the local football scene and played for Carew, Pembroke Borough and also St Florence.

Family left to mourn are Barbara, Angela and Bram, Brian and Kate, Elizabeth and Nick, Ethan, Corey, Logan and Nicole, Brian, Ethel and family, together with family and friends too numerous to mention.

The funeral was held at St Mary’s Church, Carew, officiated by Revd Carolyn Wood, prior to interment in Carew Cheriton Cemetery.

Bearers were Gerald Hicks, Martin Cole, Nicky Evans, Richard Arthur, Nicholas Scourfield, Russell Knox.

The organist was Mrs Janice Scourfield.

Mr A G Rees

Angle

ALBERT George Rees (Bertie) died at Apley Lodge on November 5, aged 100.

He started his working life for the Mirehouse family at The Hall in Angle. He was then enlisted into the Army and served in the Far East for six years in the medical corp.

After demob, he had various jobs in the building industry, and building the refinery.

When he returned home he went back to The Hall to work until he was 84.

A loving uncle to Pam and Edna, he also leaves to mourn Pam’s husband Charlie, great nieces Jane, Lynne and Tracey, and their husbands Geoff, Paul and Iain.

He was also great great uncle to Paula, Lisa, Laura, Rhys, Emily and Megan.

His family in Angle are Martin Rees, Jeremy Rees and Rosie O’Callahan.

The funeral was held at Angle Church on November 17, with Rev Paul Nash conducting.

Bearers were Charlie Hare, Paul Mayhew, Michael Eynon, Gerald Edwards, Jeremy Rees and Derek Richards.

Mr B R Osborn

Pembroke Dock

MR Bruce Robert Osborn, of Pembroke Dock, died at his family home on November 3, aged 67.

Originally from Northampton Mr Osborn worked at Valero as a mechanical engineer for the last 23 years. He was a keen TV addict and his main interests were watching rugby, tennis, holidays and cruising.

Family left to mourn are wife Sue Osborn, sons Gavin, Nathan and Tristan Welsh, daughters-in-law Kath Day and Rhiannon, grandchildren Jordon, Sali, Anne, Holly, Chloe and Jakob, and cousin Johnathan.

The funeral, officiated by Rev Roger Hart, was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on November 18. Mrs J Bowen

Whitland

MRS Joan Bowen, of Whitland, died on October 18 at Morriston Hospital, Swansea.

A native of Narberth, Mrs Bowen worked at the bakery on High Street in Narberth until she married Donald and moved to Whitland to raise her family.

Her main interests were her family, gardening, reading, knitting and sewing.

Family left to mourn are daughters Anona and Elaine, son and partner Stephen and Tracey, son Matthew and Christian.

Grandchildren Richard, Sarah, Stuart, Jonathan, Anthony, Adam, Alister, Anna, Lucy and Cian. Great grandchildren Amy, Millie, Phoebe, Stanley, Evie, Karl, Cameron, Cailey, Cory, Spencer and Joey and great great grandson James.

Bearers were grandsons Richard, Stuart, Jonathan, Anthony, Adam and Alister.

There was a private funeral service at the family home and then at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth on October 31.

Officiating was Rev Huw George.

Mrs M Owen

Whitland

(formerly of Robeston Wathen)

MARIANNE Owen passed away peacefully at home October 21, where she had been cared for by her loving family, friends and neighbours.

Although originally a farmer’s daughter from Robeston Wathen, Marianne moved to Whitland when she married David, her husband of 51 years.

They had three children and five grandchildren together, to whom Marianne was devoted.

Marianne was deeply loved and will be very much missed by everyone who knew here.

The family are very grateful to neighbours and friends for their kindness and support during this sad time.

The funeral took place at Parc Gwyn crematorium, Narberth, on November 2, officiated by Rev Nigel Griffin.
