A 30-year achievement by a Pembrokeshire woman in breeding world-class horses has been praised by MP Simon Hart.

The work of Isabel Scourfield, of Bellevue Equestrian Establishment at Ludchurch, has led to her horses and ponies bringing honours to Great Britain, as well as competing at major shows and championships including the Horse of the Year Show and the Royal International.

This year alone, one of her mounts, Bellevue Irish Pride, has proved himself a rising dressage star with owner, Stefanie Dando- Jones of Kilgetty. She has ridden him to wins in the Sue Carson Welsh Championships and Dressage Masters at Hickstead, and 11th place in the British Dressage National Championships.

And Belle Vue-bred horses were also ridden to victory in Italy by Great Britain’s team in the Pony Club Games.

Mr Hart recently visited Belle Vue, and was delighted to learn more of Isabel’s successes.

“Isabel’s achievement in producing world-class horses is a real nugget of gold in Pembrokeshire,” he said.

“I know that breeding horses is not only her passion, but her life’s work.”

Isabel is also no stranger to the show ring, numbering a silver medal in the Trailblazers Dressage Championships and a second place in the GB Championships at show jumping legend David Broome’s event centre among her top successes.

“Breeding has been my life, and it’s so rewarding when the young horses go on to do great things,” said Isabel. “Although I have 30 years behind me, I hope to carry on for many more years.”
